There are more Atheist who have better moral values than many Christians... Believing in the Christian God doesn't make you any superior over your fellow men.

Many Christians practice those acts you mentioned. Just read the newspapers...

Unfortunately, most of those who do not believe in God are also the same people who do not have clear boundaries. For some, it is okay to kill. To some, it is okay to steal. To some, it is okay to take someone else's wife or husband (or boyfriend or girlfriend) and have ***, casually. There is no morale norm, there are no absolutes, there is no order. Everything is negotiable for as long as they can get away with it, and they're not caught. As it has been said, it is random, its about satisfaction, and it is ultimately about survival. There are no truths, only positions, perceptions, or points-of-view.
Err...is the Philippines, where the church dominates everythiing; doing any better than it's neighbour like Thailand? Just go to any goverment agency and see the rampant corruption there...Christian values?

To answer the question, the main difference of life without God is that a society will be without values, and ultimately will run amok. The telltale signs are corruption, murders, lewdness, chaos, and destruction. In short, people will become a society of degenerates (without values) and nations will fast follow suit.

    Proof?

Look at America today. If you read their history and look at who wrote their Constitution, their Bill of Rights, it was composed of mostly Christians (53 of 56 IIRC). The qualification of a leader then was that he must be God-fearing. In short, America's very foundations were built on Christian values.

But what happened to them? Why did such a great nation deteriorate into what it is today? Simply put, the people failed to pass on their faith in God, and thought that society, laws, and government (all external factors) were enough to take care of them. Little did they know that the more they put their trust in themselves and their institutions, and relied less on God, would they find themselves in direr straits generations later. Today, they're trying to outlaw everything that has to do with the mention of God, or prayer, in the name of "equality," or "not offending others" (being politically correct), while the Muslims are slowly creeping up on them and building their presence in the country, gobbling up old churches and putting up their Mosques wherever they wish. Recently in the news, some people wanted to take out the "In God We Trust" inscriptions on all US currency...My point being the degeneration continues today. Time will come that US society will blot out everything of God and believe that the nation was built by mere man. I won't be surprised if someday they will become a Divided States of America with different states having starkly contrasting sets of laws.

Rome was no different. They were not defeated by enemies. They deteriorated into never land because of the deterioration in values.

You ever wonder how your eyes work, or your ears, or lungs? Do you ever get awestruck how that apple you chucked into your mouth becomes digested and turns into energy? Are you not fascinated by the ability of man to withstand weeks without food, days without water, and yet, not a second without brain power?
genes for organs that werent advantageous for survival were eliminated in the past

genes for organs that were advantageous for survival were passed on

that's why we have eyes, ears, lungs

    bats evolved sonar (echolocation)

dogs evolved keen sense of smell

Ahhh...the brain. That complex computer in between your head that makes everything tick involuntarily and voluntarily to keep you alive, thinking, synchronizing your thoughts, and typing away in an organized and logical manner so that the other person on this page can read it and understand what you're trying to say?
ahhh the brain. that energy hog

Rome was no different. They were not defeated by enemies. They deteriorated into never land because of the deterioration in values.
Rome declined because it grew too big for its own good. They did not have enough "real" Romans to guard their borders. They had to employ the services of conscripted soldiers (foederati) from conquered or vassal states. Hence some of the borders were being guarded by the non-Roman barbarians they've conquered in the past. There was a point where there were probably more foederati conscripts than real Romans defending Rome. Now, just outside the stretched out Roman borders were the Goths, Vandals, Franks, and other powerful barbarian tribes wanting a piece of the Roman pie. Those barbarian tribes have already wizened up on Roman tactics and can probably fight the Romans on equal terms.

Also, as far as I know, Rome appeared to be doing pretty well when it was still following Pagan beliefs. Signs of decline only started appearing when Rome embraced Christianity....

And you say its random? Nah. I don't think so. Nothing so random can come up with something as complexed as the brain and work this way. Not without somebody like an Intelligent Designer.
random genetic mutations that made the brain not "work this way" were eliminated

    we are not some miracle

we are not the creation of some supernatural being

we are the result of trial and error

and that trial and error is still ongoing

    evolution doesnt stop

evolution isnt a planned, deliberate process

    evolution has no goal

    it just happens

100,000 yrs from now, the earth will be a different place

will homo sapiens still be around?

    i don't know

As I've mentioned on my earlier post, mas madaming peaceful nation na secular kesa sa religious nation na religious.

lagi tanong ng mga believer sa non-believer --

if you dont believe in God, what's to stop you from going around killing people?

    DUH!

why would i go around killing people? i'm not a violent person

i dont wanna screw up my life by killing someone

i don't want the stress of hiding from people who will take revenge on me for killing their loved one

i don't wanna get jailed. i don't wanna lose my freedom. i don't wanna ruin my life

what kind of a question is that?

just coz you don't believe in God meron ka na license to kill?

what kind of thinking is that?

IF BELIEVING IN GOD IS THE ONLY THING STOPPING YOU FROM KILLING PEOPLE THEN YOU ARE A VERY DANGEROUS PERSON

what if you lose your faith?

    you become a mass murderer?

    --

and an equally dangerous person is one who kills coz his God told him to

    --

btw, yung nangyari sa Maguindanao... yung kila Ampatuan...

    ummm... atheists be sila?

    hinde diba?

In a personal level - no idea. Pero kung titingnan natin ang mga bansa, generally those countries na generally madami atheist, ay mas maunlad, mas disiplinado, mas mababa crime rate, etc...
So if the Philippines stop believing in Catholic and Muslim religions (and all the other religious sects), we might be more prosperous?

Religion and faith was used in the ancient times where science has not yet gained enough information to explain the world, the universe and everything else.

Since science today can explain the world, universe and everything else, religion and faith as it stands is obsolete in it's original purpose.

Today, religion and faith is more used to control and/or influence the minds and wills of their followers/believers. In turn, this control can be used to control or influence a country's government or even cause it's downfall. In other ways, religion has become the excuse to wage "holy-war" against what is deemed the "unclean" or "unholy".
