September 12th, 2011 05:39 PM #254And remember, the Holy Land and the Muslims were not the exclusive targets (i.e. victims) of the Crusades. There were crusades called out against Christians as well!
Take the Crusade against Constantinople --- the Orthodox Christians. Christians (Catholics) calling a crusade against Christians (Ortodox)!
How about the Crusade against the Cathars --- a group of Christians who got pissed off at the Church and decided to worship God directly. They were branded as Heretics by the Church and a crusade was called against them. In one particular siege, the Catholic leader was asked what to do with the occupants of the Cathar City, since the occupants were a mixture of Cathars and Catholics. The leader said, "Kill them all, God knows his own."
Then there's the Children's Crusade.....

Christians on a Murderous campaign called the Crusades
Eh TANGA mo kasi. The Crusades happened centuries after the Bible was written. How could it be there?
Excuse me, but the Crusades was sanctioned by the pope.
And yes, it was a lawlessness by the so-called TRUE Christians, which caused the MURDER of hundreds of thousands of people.

September 13th, 2011 07:41 PM #259marg/Monserato,
Obviously you didn't get what I meant. And don't make assumptions that I don't know history. True Christians in the Bible who lived in the 1st century CE are non-violent people because they were taught by Jesus to love their neighbor as themselves and they were taught to not repay evil against evil. They are selfless people helping others to know Christ and His father. In fact, they are the ones being persecuted by the people just like how Jesus was persecuted. Some were stoned and some were burnt at the stake. So, professing Christians you and andywesteast are referring to are in fact false Christians because they're not leaving on the standard set forth by Jesus Christ. Worst, they're doing the opposite. People like them are responsible why many don't believe in God anymore. Sad but this is what really happening.
