From an FB post:
"I was walking in the banks of the River Danube in Budapest on a beautiful spring day when I saw these shoes.
Getting curious, I approached the shoes and saw a plaque that reads: "To the memory of the victims shot into the Danube by Arrow Cross Miltiamen In 1944-1945."
It turned out that on that very spot, Jews were ordered to take their shoes off, and then they were "shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away”.
The fixed bronze shoes, created by a Hungarian film director and a sculptor, serve as a haunting memorial to this day of the horrors of an otherwise-forgotten time.
As I walked away from the shoes, I realized how such a simple work of creativity can leave a lasting impression. Forced into the river and killed, the Jews would have vanished from people’s memories, but the replicas of their shoes (which they were made to take off so they can be used by other people) survive not just to remind or pay tribute to their memory, but to get people into thinking about how we can prevent another similar horror from ever happening again.
And so as we in the Philippines contemplate how we can remind the younger generations of the dark times and tragic moments in our history, we should not overlook the simple and creative ways through which we can make the past visible and tangible in people’s everyday lives.
Where can we find traces of the student activists who disappeared? The farmers who fought for land reform? The OFWs who were unjustly killed in foreign lands? The soldiers who even now we merely know as '44'?
History is too important to be relegated to the textbooks. Let us not forget the role of art not just for beauty, but also for memory."

Sana nga meron tayo
Sure, we made peace already. But to put them back into power is a different thing. Katangahan na yun. Basahin mo ulit yung tungkol sa common sense.
Iba ang open-mindedness sa lack of common sense.

Thanks jut703. My only point here is about healing the country. If those issues happened 30 or more years ago, let our generation today move forward towards a better country. Even religious groups does not accept apologies nowadays. People still wants to get even (the so-called JUSTICE). It will be a never ending hatred that will continue for the next generation and the generations after them. Each administration have their own highs and lows. But during elementary, marcos is only known as a dictator. I encourage everyone na magsaliksik. What the reason behind the martial law declaration? Why ninoy was killed and who did it? How did the marcos acquire such huge amount of wealth? How the martial law victims are being chosen, was it random, show of power? Before martial law was declared, why is the opposition already making their moves against marcos administration?

So you're proposing that to achieve "healing", we should just let the atrocities of the Marcos regime be forgotten?
True healing will happen when everyone gets what they deserve - the Marcoses convicted for their crimes, and the Filipinos redeemed by the recovery of the Marcoses' ill-gotten wealth.
Also, anti-Marcos does not automatically mean pro-Aquino. The fight against Marcos was a fight for democracy. Democracy is not exclusive to one part or political family. Democracy is what allows you to post all your criticisms online without fear of retribution from the government.
isama mo ito sa iyong pananaliksik--
the Filipino people, thru their taxes, are paying for the atrocities committed by ferdinand e. marcos and ferdinand r. marcos!

Lol. Ngayon meron na namemersonal. Ako stupid? Nagpapasalamat ako sa marcos dahil may naia, slex, nlex, maharlika hiway, infrastructures, at madami pa. Palibhasa puro kamalian nakikita niyo. I rest my case. Mga hipokrito

Can you stop this?
BOBO and GAGO is a offensive word.
Again... This is a Last Warning.
under sections 6 and 7 of RA10368, the reparation to martial law victims shall be taken from 10 BILLION ILL-GOTTEN WEALTH OF FERDINAND E. MARCOS AND HIS SIN-FREE JUNIOR.
by the way, OK lang yung ninakaw nila sa kaban ng bayan, meron naman tayong slex and nlex and naia na naipagawa ni idol ferdie.
SEC. 6. Amount of Reparation. — The amount of reparation under this Act shall be in proportion to the gravity of the human rights violation committed on the HRVV and in accordance with the number of points assigned to the individual under Section 19 hereof.
SEC. 7. Source of Reparation. — The amount of Ten billion pesos (P10,000,000,000.00) plus accrued interest which form part of the funds transferred to the government of the Republic of the Philippines by virtue of the December 10, 1997 Order of the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, adjudged by the Supreme Court of the Philippines as final and executory in Republic vs. Sandiganbayan on July 15, 2003 (G.R. No. 152154) as Marcos ill-gotten wealth and forfeited in favor of the Republic of the Philippines, shall be the principal source funds for the implementation of this Act.
WTF! there's no such thing as ninoy aquino international airport during the time of my idol.
and what about the slex and nlex? WTF ilang lanes lang ba manila south and north diversion roads before their rehabilitation by the administrations subsequent to my idol?
isama ninyo yan sa pananaliksik nyo.
there is a need for the DepEd to integrate in the curriculum in high school the subject: "MARCOS, THE ABUSIVE DICTATOR AND GRAND THIEF."
that's the only way to stop this stupidity.
Magresearch ka. Naia is Manila international airport dati.
