I remember my cousin who took up French language, ngayong nagsisisi at panay hapon ka-deal niya sa business.

So its either Japanese or Chinese as 2nd language for me.

FYI if you don't know it yet....spanish is next to english as the most widely used language in the USA and the number 1 language in Americas.

+1 here.but, it doesnt mean na dapat gawin pang official language ang espanol.concentrate sa english muna tutal english naman pinaka medium na language.pag nasa spanish speaking country kana or nihonggo or chinese masasanay kadin.yan ang talent ng pinoy.madaling mag adapt.

It's better if the students have a choice on what language they want to learn. Like Spanish, Mandarin, French etc. Just don't stuff Spanish down their throats.

From high school to college, Spanish was part of the curriculum, but I had no interest whatsoever in learning it, and up till now I still have to use the Spanish I learned. What a waste of time.
i agree with this. let the students select the language they want to learn. if someone doesn't have an interest to learn a certain foreign language, useless lang ang time, money and effort spent. di rin siya matututo. also, learning a language is not only learning how to write and speak it but most importantly, learning how to love and continue learning it.

during my high school and college days, me spanish subjects kami for a total of 3 years. ang binigyan ng emphasis ay yung paano mag conjugate ng verbs -(hablo, hablas, habla, hablamos, hablais, hablan, etc.). kaya puro memorization lang nangyari.

mind you, sa father side ko, lahat sila - grandpa, grandma, father, titos and titas - could speak CONVERSATIONAL spanish. kaya lang iba ito sa itinuturo sa schools. tawa nga sila ng tawa sila sa akin nung nag me memorize ako out loud ng mga conjugations dahil hindi naman daw nila ginagagamit lahat ito when speaking.

so in the end, since lahat na halos sila passed away na, at wala na rin akong makausap (the remaining spanish-speaking tita still alive does not live with us), what little knowledge of spanish i had before, simply went away by natural death also.
