The excuses of RMN is lame. Media had access to the hostage taker before during the Ducat Incident so RMN management understood they can do it again. ABS and GMA refrained talking to the hostage taker following the Ducat incident because there was a rule introduced by the KBP. Apparently RMN ignored this. Ratings baby...ratings.

IMO, its the ground commander to will have to bear the brunt of the blame. Technically it is his operation that has been displayed to all of us to see.
Even if the media did not cover the incident, its still his.
If the PNoy is not in Manila or the mayor is not in the vicinity, the operation is still his to supervise.

basta fault yan ng mga nag ma-manage sa hostage situation
di nila alam ang gagawin
they were clueless
no methodical step-by-step textbook handling of the situation
they acted according to what comes to mind at the moment
they decided what to do on the spot as things developed
they didnt have control over the crime scene
there was no crowd control
there was no perimeter
the only thing that kept the crowd away from the bus was fear of getting shot
when the threat was gone, everyone rushed to the bus
there was no control on the media
and media didnt know where to draw the line
the thinking is -- if i don't cover this, somebody else will, and the audience will just change channels, and i'll be questioned by management what i was doing
govt AMATEURS
crowd ANARCHY
media ANARCHY

I would also say the MEDIA is a bunch of amateurs and nothing more than a bunch of tabloid news-people.
They do not know where to draw the line.
They claim "the public's right to know" as if it was God's will.
Yet they do not want to claim responsibility for the direct results of their actions.

check out this bullsh*t
'Police did not stop us from covering'

MANILA, Philippines - Had authorities stopped the media from covering the hostage crisis last August 23, GMA Network Inc. news producer Susan Enriquez said she would have followed.
Testifying before the Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC) on Wednesday, Enriquez said nobody called her attention to stop the live feed she was giving her station at the time that the brother of hostage-taker was being arrested by the police.
gimme a break
madali sabihin after mangyari ang lahat
if the police stopped them that day, they would be screaming CENSORSHIP! PRESS FREEDOM!
sabihin nalang kasi ng media ang totoo
they don't want anyone telling them what they can or cannot doLast edited by uls; September 8th, 2010 at 04:51 PM.

in soviet philippines, media is above the law
in soviet philippines, cops kidnap you
in soviet philippines, cops rob you
in soviet philippines, SWAT retreats in an ambush operation
hmmm... since the soviet union is gone, we might as well be the direct heir of the russian reversalsLast edited by safeorigin; September 8th, 2010 at 06:09 PM.
