Aquino had earlier asked Vice President Jejomar Binay to make a recommendation on the matter. Binay recommended that Marcos be buried in his home province in Ilocos Norte but with full military honors.

The President, however, objected to both the idea of burying the late strongman at the Heroes' Cemetery and giving him state honors.

I'm sorry, but FM doesn't deserve burial honors.

Sure, you could say he was a soldier, congressman, senator and ex-President, but 20 years of Martial Law abuses killed whatever positive legacy he had.

What is all this? Bongbong and the rest of his minions in media are now clamoring to deodorize Marcos by way of a State Funeral? This is absolutely nuts!

    Silence.
(Note: Bongbong Marcos didn’t reply. An aide said, “Na-check operator services po si Sir.”)
With regard to the issue on burying Macoy with honors, I never really paid attention to how Noynoy handled it and why there is so much issue since i know in the end, he would not allow that since it is quite personal to him. In a way, one reason why I see that he's sheltered (as people would point out, mama's boy) is because he was raised by his mom as Macoy did jail Ninoy and ___________ (fill in the blanks nalang) killed Ninoy.

My personal stand is Macoy doesn't deserve it as this would add to the injustice given to the many victims of Martial Law, and to the current systems we have today that resulted from that. My observation nowadays is that a lot who did not see (or know about) EDSA or Martial Law, seem to be commenting that Macoy was actually good after all. Hell no. Smart and capable? Yes no doubt. Too bad he didn't use it the way it could have been used.

Totoo ba yung story na Bongbong is not the real Bongbong?

Well, from what I know, the President, as Chief Executive, has the final decision on whatever matter his advisers recommend so...yes, he is not automatically bound by what Binay had recommended for the Marcoses.

I guess what comes as a legitimate question is whether or not PNoy can be a statesman. This requires that he transcend his biases and prejudices as a person and as someone who is the son of the person who bore the brunt of Martial Law. Siguro nakalimutan niya na he is President of this country. And, by the way, this country is inhabited not only by his allies, but by his critics and enemies as well.

In a situation that PNoy is not an Aquino, IMHO what he did is within his jurisdiction and therefore not to be questioned since it was specifically a recommendation from the VP as he requested.

Unfortunately, most people already assume that he would reject a state funeral so this makes it controversial nga naman.

    He asked for a recommendation.

    A recommendation isn't final.

Besides... how would people react if PNoy recommended burying Marcos with full state honors?

This is the man who pillaged the Philippines, instituted twenty years of martial law, and, most likely, had PNoy's father executed in cold blood as he got off the airplane.

What kind of man would you be if you bent to his son's demands for full state honors?

This is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't things." Yung mali lang ni Noynoy, he went to see what other people thought instead of doing the right thing in the first place and denying the request. But still, a recommendation is just that, a recommendation.

What I think is the bigger issue here... what the f*** is Binay smoking proposing that Marcos be given full honors? Hello?

I think this line of thinking is why he passed it to Binay... probably so people would not say that he did not consider the request and shot it down straight away due to personal bias.

I think he was expecting Binay to also say "no". Got a big surprise there...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Agree.

And Marcos a World War 2 hero? Pakdatsyet! Gawa-gawa lang niya yun.

Mass murderer? Pwede. Ilang libong tao pa ang pinapatay ng yumaong unggoy na yun to retain his power.

    Andres de Saya? Oo. :D

Pnoy man without one word
