    a) Manny Pacquiao is probably the only athlete i have ever known who has received an "open letter". was this published?

    b) this Sgt Rudy Degracia seems to be full of himself. parang akala mo kung sinong magaling.

    c) cc. to Darlene Custodio! :rofl01:

And yes... that's an American (regardless if he has Filipino roots) asking a Filipino not to run for a seat in Congress?

As soon as he stepped on the land of milk & honey and served in their military I don't think that he has the right to mutter the phrase "our already idiot country".

    Edit

He's from California right? Don't they have a certain movie star there as their Governor?

Check out his spelling of "differencia" & "servicio".

    amf, retired tapos Sarhento lang.

saka, hindi yata pwede gamitin ang letterhead ng organization if it's not official business. only one way to find out, buti may roll-over minutes from Cingular :evillaugh

Partly true and there was no other choice but him. We didnt want Gray Davis as a governor anymore. (that mofo tripled the vehicle tax, most buyers were paying $600 for tax on average). I didnt vote for Arnold, I voted for 'unelectable' Tom McClintock. Unelectable because he believes in closing the border, that there should be no healthcare/education benefits for undocumented immigrants, no vehicle license for undocumented immigrants, etc.

anyway, what Mr. Retired Sgt failed to realize is that politics is popularity. and that, my friend, is the reality.

and who cares about Mr. Retired Sgt anyway! :evillaugh

i dont think it was published.. one of the staff siguro ng mayor have it photocopied hanggang kumalat..

the letter sender is medyo mayabang nga pero sabi nga nila the truth hurts.. mayabang man pagkasabi nya pero its quite true. if he really wants to help the people..he can without running the congress.

high education might not be a qualification for the position but how can he survive in the congress if he doesnt have one? i think people around him are just using his fame.. and sya naman, naenganyo din agad without even thinking. for sure pa cute and pirma lang gagawin nyan sa kongreso since hindi naman sya ang gagawa and mag-iisip..

i agree with tawengo. although my hat's off to pacman since he wants to help his constituents at gensan, congress is a totally different turf for him. i'm not belittling his educational attainment but he's treading an unknown territory. look what happened to ramon revilla at the senate during his time. naging laughing stock lang siya duon.

I remember this televised debate where they were talking about if high level education is required for public service...

there is group of actors/politicians who say they can get by with diskarte and common sense.

Well, that's exactly what many pinoys believe. That u can get thru life and even become quite successful by diskarte and common sense.

Many people in our society represent the diskarte/common sense ideology. They become role models...

Kaya kita nyo hindi emphasized sa culture natin ang pursuit of knowledge and higher learning.

Possibly one of the reasons we keep going down the asian economic scale unlike before when a very high value was placed on education and when we were on the upper tier economically.

I wonder though if this is a true sentiment or if it is just a consoling gesture from the few who've made it even without a good formal education.
