Mayor Lito Atienza pinalitan na si Senator Franklin Drilon sa Liberal Party

nagpatawag daw ng isang convention si Mayor Atienza pero ang agenda ay hindi para sa isang party election, then biglang may nagmotion to declare all party positions vacanat... ayun nagbotohan at si Mayor na ang presidente ng LP, illegal daw ito sabi ni Drilon dahil tanging presidente lang daw ng party and maaring magpatawag ng election. wala din daw sa quorum dahil karamihan ng dumating ay mga baranggay captains at opisyal ng maynila. Dumating din si Gloria Arroyo at tuwang tuwa sa nangyari.

matagal na yang issue na yan... nung first "coup" attempt against GMA pa yan dba? both Drilon & Atienza are claiming to head the LP. jan nasira si Drilon, he claimed that he and the LP doens't support GMA anymore. guess what? nobody sided with him at that time!

problem is that Drilon doesn't have the balls to muster an LP meeting since he'll be voted off the presidency ASAP for claiming to withdraw support from GMA. and he doesn't have enought supporters anymore since he sided with the opposition.

Whoever is in the right, they didn't follow procedures. Mukhang gurangan nalang ito.

Really sad, isn't it, when the Liberal Party ceases having meaning as a Liberal group, and instead becomes just another front for furthering political careers.

Oh wait... the parties in the Philippines have always been this way.

only 32 out of 102 LP members who are needed for a quorum were present. i don't think that is a majority. kahit ano na lang talaga gagawin kahit nakakahiya.

btw, all 3 past LP presidents and 2/3 of LP members still recognise drillon as the legitimate LP president. so where is the coup?

So, is this going to lead to a split or minor defection from the LP of those members called by LA? Are we indeed going to have two LPs... Liberal Party and Lito's Party?

Or is that LP and LAP (Lito Atienza's Party)... or GMA's personal LAP-dogs?

This soap opera, or sopas show, is getting better by the minute.
