    Mukhang di na Tuesdays... this morning nag increase, and P1.90 for diesel!

    Oil firms hike prices, diesel by as much as P1.90/liter
    11/14/2011 | 08:15 AM

    Higher fuel prices greeted motorists early on Monday after some oil firms raised the prices of their products, including diesel by as much as P1.90 per liter.

    Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Jose Layug Jr. said on Monday the increase was partly due to the sharp rise in world fuel prices last week.

    "Huwebes pa lang inanunsyo namin inaasahan tataas sila ngayon. Last week talagang sumipa ang presyo ng langis sa international market. Mataas ang diesel more or less $6/barrel at gas $3/barrel so napasok sa pagtaas ngayon," Layug said in an interview over radio dzBB.

    He explained that the price hikes were within the range allowed by the DOE.

    He added that fuel prices usually go up in the second half of the year.

    Oil company Total's price hikes included:

    •P1.90/liter for diesel;

    •65 centavos/liter for unleaded gas, and

    •90 centavos/liter for regular gas.

    Chevron's price hikes included:

    •P1.90/liter for diesel;

    •65 centavos/liter for unleaded;

    •90 centavos/liter for regular gas, and

    •P1.60/liter for kerosene.

    Layug said Shell's price hikes included:

    •P1.90/liter for diesel, and

    •70 centavos/liter for gas.

    And it's set to go even higher as NYMEX Crude closes in to US$ 100/barrel.
