If they remove the subsidy completely, it'll be 45 pesos.

They have to temper the price increase, or do it slowly... otherwise the business will suffer.

But then that's up to the operators of the MRT. If they want to maintain profitability, they'll have to find the right balance between per passenger price and total passenger volume. If they raise it to 45 all at once and the passenger volume falls by 80%, they won't be making as much money as they are now.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

if they know the demand curve and the price elasticity of demand, they'll be able to do that.

They should... since it's high-school economics... but tell that to guys who just bought the SLEX... ...now that one's unfair... as we'd be paying more for cruddier service than the other highways in the country.

Unfortunately their priorities is their shareholders as it became evident everytime they justify their 300% increase in toll.

NLEX increased theirs as well pero di naman ganito kataas noon - and nung nabawi na investments nila at least nagka-decency silang babaan ang singil nila.

Sana lang kung matuloy man ang 300% na iyan ay in the end bawasan din once makabawi na sila - kaso from how they operate (imagine sinara yung NAIA exit kesyo may ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION kuno - where in fact it's obvious na ayaw lang nilang may nakikilibre sa daan nila), who knows...

I agree... They lose their relevance pag tumahimik sila... If they are irrelevant, wala silang leverage para sa mga raket

Let's see what Ms. Summer of Discontent has to say about this:

    http://tinesabillo.wordpress.com/201...lrt-fare-hike/

    30 July

Hmph. Naku.

Aircon at mura pa.

Mas mura pa ang flag-down rate.
