January 30th, 2011 06:36 PM #24i doubt that "ayaw matapos ang gyera"
war is a byproduct of series of oppressions from two warring factions. even a school bully who continually bullies a nerd resort to violence as a last resort to restore dignity and respect. and this is confined pa sa mga young people pa na murang mura ang thinking, what more with overgrown adults with resources.
the war in mindanao will never end simply bec. there are factions. weapons from our AFP are being distributed / sold there bec. it's economically cheaper to buy local than imported. think of an ideological faction leader who is also business-minded, economics will dictate that he befriends someone in the military to supply his tools for war.
the thing is there is a Hilter in all of us. some clan leaders there make it their purpose in life.

there's a quote in George Orwell's 1984:
"The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous."

January 31st, 2011 09:58 AM #27Sorry if OT. But I find this intriguing.. they do have a point in that some drivers tend to stay in the overtaking lane; or is it that, now they are no longer president/presidential son, they cannot lower themselves to the level of the ordinary Filipino, and suffer traffic?
Arroyos file bill vs slow drivers

MANILA, Philippines—Slow-moving cars in the fast lane have apparently earned the ire of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her son, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo, that both decided to introduce legislation to put drivers in their place.
Mother and son are joint authors of House Bill 1576 which proposes stiff fines and penalties against slow drivers who roll in the fast or passing lanes designated for overtaking.
They proposed a P10,000 fine against violators and a three-month suspension of their license.
They said slow drivers who travel in the fast lane not only cause traffic jams but are also road hazards.
“A big number of traffic accidents on highways are caused by slow-moving vehicles,” said the Arroyos in the explanatory note to their bill.
The bill mandates the Department of Transportation and Communications to place and maintain on highways official signs directing slow-moving traffic to use the outer or rightmost lane except when overtaking.
