I like how one official said in one interview... "Kung NCR yun, may aksiyon kaagad!"

Hell.. he wasn't here during Ondoy, was he?

What about Millenyo? We got flooded out of house and home, and support was a long time coming!

Buti nga they have backhoes and special platforms to do the duty of dislodging those water hyacinths... but obviously it's difficult to transport heavy equipment to Cotabato at a moment's notice...

I don't like our leader's performance either but blaming the national government for an lgu problem won't win them points in Malacanang. Those water hyacinths took a loooong time to grow to gargantuan proportions. What was the lgu doing with their funds all these years? Can't take the heat so they try to pass the buck to Malacanang.

    Here's the catch...

This has been a perennial problem of the Philippines, under almost every President of the past two decades... our flood control policy is reactive rather than preventive in most areas.

But this is entirely up to the LGUs on how they deal with it. That's the preventive part. The city of Binan in Laguna has been hit by a whole host of crappy floods. The worst was Millenyo... after that, the city (upon achieving cityhood) embarked on a massive undertaking in upgrading the antiquated and incomplete drainage system. It's still not finished, but at least during Ondoy, despite the high floods, they didn't get quite as high or last as long in the areas that were not inundated because Laguna Lake overflowed.

This should be a lesson to the Cotabato LGUs, to take preventive measures against water hyacinth encroachment in the future. If they don't... it's all on their heads.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

it may come to that point.. but there will still be always a group na maniniwala na mas mabuti yung walang accomplishments kesa corrupt...

sabagay.. di naman talaga ganun kadali stamp out corruption...

Don't mind the PNoy thing though. Those things happen because of what we have done. Parang eye-opener sha of what's happening to our country as of the moment.

I believe Filipinos deserve better than this
