It's just another attempt to copycat First World laws for our Third World country. There are similar laws in effect in most European democracies and in North America. The idea being to reduce the dependence of the politicians on big business interest. As it stands now, big business are practically ruining or running our government thru puppet patronage politicians or throught their kamaganaks. With the law deserving leaders with meager resources could still launch a respectable campaign knowing that this will be partly or wholly subsidized by the taxpayers.
The law, however, should also provide for transparencies in political contributions. In other countries individuals and business entities can have their political donations tax deductible upto a certain amount.
