ACCESS to Holy Mass will soon be just a click away.
Hoping to spread the “good news” to a bigger audience, a charismatic community at the Edsa Shrine is planning to launch a “web cast” of Masses starting next year.
“This is especially for those who cannot attend Masses, like those with disabilities or those working in call centers,” Danny Olivares of the Wellspring of Life Community told the Inquirer.
Supported by a newly established Internet service provider, Olivares said they were planning to start the live web cast of Masses in February.
The live web cast could be accessed in the new official website of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Quasi-Parish, more popularly known as the Edsa Shrine. The website is www.edsashrine.com.
“The web will be a tool that we can use in a positive sense. This will help in spreading the good news,” Shrine parish priest Fr. Vic Apacible told the Inquirer.
The shrine, built in honor of the 1986 People Power, is usually crowded with more than 600 churchgoers attending Mass, particularly because of its strategic location within the busy Ortigas Center.
Olivares said parishioners could already access the website where they can check the schedule of Masses and other church activities, read messages from Shrine officials and post their own messages.
Parishioners can also seek spiritual advice online.
“We have volunteers who offer free counseling. Their e-mail addresses are posted on the website,” Olivares said.
Parishioners can e-mail a volunteer and get his/her reply the same way.
The website has 17 e-mail addresses, including those of Apacible and the two other priests at the shrine, Olivares said.
Olivares has a temporary staff maintaining the website, which is also supported by service provider Broadband Philippines.
