I was just waiting for somebody to post the story about the hazing victim who died recently and watching the cctv footages inside the condo were just terrifying. I am a bit disturbed as my son is staying at One Archer but in a different wing but still the reality about fraternity is entirely incomprehensible to me. I finished 2 degrees in 3 different universities yet I never got invited by any group. What are they looking for in a frat member?

they always say makakatulong daw ang fraternity sa career but i doubt those college kids are thinking long term

one major factor is "protection"... kailangan may resbak kasi madami war freak sa college

another motivator is the coolness factor

fratboys are cool and get lots of chicks kaya madami gusto sumali sa mga frat

so the motives in joining frats are actually quite primitive --- violence and ***

i have friends that joined tau gamma and aquila legis. i keep telling them they're idiots for joining. anyone who would willingly let themselves get hurt just for the sake of their so called "brotherhood" is an idiot. ang tunay na kaibigan di ka iiwanan at di kelangan ng hazing hazing para tulungan ka. yan mga frat frat na yan tutulungan ka lang nan pag alam nila lamang sila pero pag lugi kayo good luck na lang sa iyo. dami ko barkada sumali sa mga frat na yan and guess what after you graduate wala din maitulong sa kanila, sa away ganon din kanya kanyang takbo pag argabyado na sila.

in my opinion those who joins fraternities lack self respect, self confidence and losers in life so they join frats to be in the "in crowd". yung mga klase ng tao na kahit ano gawin nila loser sila so they join a fraternity kasi yon na lang ang paraan nila para mapansin ng mga taga school nila.

kaya most if not all the time, victims na namatay sa hazing don't get that much sympathy from people who use their brains and people with common sense

natatawa nga ako bakit hrm eh magpa frat
tsk tsk nasayang tuloy buhay nya
karamihan dyan eh napipilitan sumali dahil tutulungan sila

    Yes it's a "must".....

    ..."must avoid at all costs".

Sad to say, meron kasing ibang nauuto into joining the frat...then endure and stay in the frat "out of honor". Ganyan siguro style nila, para kung nagkaipitan, they can say that the neophyte joined them of their own free will.

i (sort of) understand why people feel they need to join frats like these, but, think about it, these people beat up innocent neophytes whom they've never met, never had a grudge with, and maybe even take pleasure from the beatings. A few words come to mind: psychopath. sociopath. sadist. Or maybe even worse, sheep who just follow "tradition".

Why the hell would i want to be brothers with these people?

Yung iba namang matitinong frats: why not use another term kaya para di madamay sa mga gagong frats? e.g. call yourselves an org, club, etc? Kinda like marketing ^_^
