Estrada disowns lawyer’s plan to file protest

MANILA, Philippines—Deposed President Joseph Estrada on Tuesday disowned the statement of his election lawyer, who claimed his camp was considering filing an election protest.

“Isip n’ya ’yon, di ko isip ’yon. Position n’ya ’yon,” he told the Inquirer in a phone interview.

Estrada said he was open to conceding defeat to Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, but did not say if it was forthcoming, considering that Senator Manuel Villar had already done so.

“Bakit hindi? Give me time to think it over,” he said.

Estrada said he was yet to decide on what to do in the face of his first-ever election defeat.
