you reckon a single bill passed or two they'll stop right there? once they figure out they can control you with a piece of legislation like in washington, there'll be an influx of such so that poor pinoys got nowhere to hide in a nanny state.

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, 'diagnosing it incorrectly', and applying the 'wrong remedies'.

    and

Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by 'those who are dumber'.

i say hack the polls next time and i mean you white and black make those codes count.

I seriously doubt if the NBI knows the hackers. They're just doing the usual saber rattling for "press release" and media.

Hackers of gov’t websites known – De Lima
    By Tetch Torres

    3:03 pm | Monday, October 8th, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already pinpointed personalities involved in defacing government websites, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Monday.

“As of last week, some personalities were identified. Is it just for fun…or were they wittingly violating the law? Those who are involved in hacking will be pinned down. Is this a loose group or loosely formed group…?” De Lima told reporters Monday.

Hacktivists have been defacing government websites in protest of President Benigno Aquino III’s approval of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Some of the government websites defaced include the Official Gazette under the Office of the President, Senate and Congress’ website, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, among others.

Only because of reports from other people who notice an unusual high traffic of people going and out of the house.

Now if you do the same thing in an office building, I think no one will notice and bother about it, right? Because all the "raids" I have heard were in houses, not office buildings.

    Isn't that the S.O.P. of the P.N.P. and N.B.I. if its a high-profile victim?

The difference, the hackers isn't just one person. It is a group with ability & capacity of getting their voices heard. So if the authorities just nabs a scapegoat, the hackers will just keep on doing their thing, proving the PNP/NBI is less than useless in caseless like this.

Given that, it might be possible the PNP/NBI will not just nab a scapegoat.

    Hacktivists dodging NBI surveillance
By Camille Diola The Philippine Star Updated October 08, 2012 10:53 AM

Special Investigator Joey Narciso of the NBI Computer Crime Division said that his team has been investigating 20 identified individuals believed to be behind the hacking spree, but the hackers have been countering the bureau’s monitoring activities.

"We are also being monitored by these online vandals. They are countering everything we're doing," Narciso said in Filipino.

meron bang unwritten rule ang mga hackers? yung bale hindi sila nagbibistuhan sa isat-isa... hindi kaya meron din ginagamit ang NBI na mga "hackers" din para subaybayan ang kilos ng mga hacktivist?

There are white-hat and black-hat hackers. The typical hacker would be labeled as black-hats. The white-hats are supposedly hackers for good or ethical hackers. Some even work for private (computer security) companies. It is possible for the NBI to hire the services of "white-hat" hackers. But skill levels still differ from person to person so no guarantees.

Also there are certain techniques which is practically foolproof in wiping out traces of one's access source. And with today's prepaid 3G internet, actually getting a pin-point location is zero, and much less of even identifying the user.
