My dad arrived for the weekend to visit me and one of his requests was to visit an Isuzu showroom so that he could see the all new D-Max and compare it with his current Ranger. Being an obedient son and raring to get a glimpse of the Ranger's adversary, we decided to visit Isuzu Quezon Ave. showroom this afternoon. Only the LS 4x2 manual model was available for display. Here are the pics... enjoy!

    His verdict:
"Looks good, but I still love my Ranger!"

Beside the clock (on 4x4 models) are the pushbutton controls to select 2H, 4H or 4L.

Much higher ground clearance than the fuego, same height na ang 4x2 and 4x4. At least the shop allowed me to switch on the engine and rev it a few times. Ibang klase, ang lambot ng gas pedal, vrroom right away ang rpm needle! Vrroom din ang presyo, with the 4x2 manual over 900K, and the 4x4 manual over 1.1M. The leg room looks pretty much the same, but the dashboard controls looks better.

    Actually the engine is a 4JH1TC good for 130ps * 3800rpm.

Very powerful. I got a chance to test drive it this morning in an offroad scenario. I was very impressed with this pick-up! And to think, i'm not a pickup guy! The killer looks are a plus!

yeapp mukhang top pick nga sya ang ganda eh...pero sya rin ata ang pinakamahal sa pickup. panu mo malalaman sa labas kung 4x4 or 4x2?

compare to a frontier? malayo ba agwat sa power?

Skywalker: At the back of the grill just like the Ranger.

    Price:
    D-MAX: P 1,255,000 (MT)
    Ranger: P 1,050,000 (1-tone), P 1,060,000 (2-tone), P 1,135,000 (limited)

    Torque:
    D-MAX: 279Nm*2000rpm (M/T)
    Ranger: 280Nm*2000rpm (M/T)

I think if it were value for money, the Ranger wins. You can get the 4x4XLT model at P200k lower than the D-MAX.

What do you guys prefer? Push-button transfer case like the D-MAX or part-time manual transfer case like the Ranger's? I prefer the manual.

Nothing beats a shifter that is actally connected to the transfer case! :D
