alin sa palagay ninyo mas tama?
just curious...

because some countries just had to be different
actually it would have been great if everyone had agreed to a standard way back when they were just figuring out this whole car/road thing. now it's too late because i am guessing it will take billions to reconfigure the road infrastructure of entire countries, not to mention making countless existing vehicles unusable.
sa akin, mas intuitive ang LHD...partly because i'm left-handed (hold wheel with left, shift with right) but mostly because i've never driven anything but LHD
AFAIK mas madaming LHD countries. The US definitely, and then Europe (with the exception of UK). Notice most european cars come out LHD first, then the RHD versions follow later... Some never make it to RHD.
Unfortunately for us, a lot of our cars come from Japan who use RHD, and there are also a lot of very nice cars that never come out in LHD.
Of course, standing out in the midst of the confusion we have the McLaren F1. :praning:
This thing started when man was still using a horse as a means of transportation. Those countries where the horse man sits on the horse of a wagon turned out to be left hand drive while those who's horse man sits on the wagon turns out to be right hand drive.
The reason for this is, the horse whip is commonly on the right hand of the horse man, and if done in reverse, he may not be able to hit the horse or he might be hitting his passenger.
Sometime in 1960's countries who are in continents have agreed to use left hand drive vechicle while those who are in an island did not because they do not have the need for it. Thats why you'll notice that most island countries except those handled by the americans are right hand drive.
Actually, even when people were still walking , may orientation na. Something about being able to draw your sword in some cultures. Yung sa ibang culture hindi ko maalala ang reason. Parating pinapalabas sa cable iyan dati, eh.

all those countries under british empire before (new zealand, australia, indonesia, malaysia, singapore, india, pakistan, hong kong and some middle east countries, etc.) are RHD because england is also RHD country. but there are more countries that are using the LHD direction. even most of the european countries used to have RHD direction. but during the collapse of the british empire, as a sign of their protest to britain, they changed their system to LHD.

imagine if the standard for the whole world is LHD ang dali bumili ng LC80 at Gen 3 na jdm. wala ng convert convert! and there are also other goodies such as Civic Type R, Nissan Skyline, Mitsu Evo, and the like....
Ganito kasi yan......
Uso sa France(if i recall correctly) dati, horse drawn carriages where the driver sits on the carriage itself. so walang kaso if the driver whips the horse using the right hand coz he wont hit the passengers. Therefore they went LHD.
In the England naman, uso yung carriages where the rider actually sits on the horse and not the carriage. Since this is the case, when the rider has to whip the poor horse, tatamaan sa muka yung mga pasahero. To alleviate this, the rider must sit on the right side so that the whipping motion wont hit the passengers who were on the carriage.
if my memory serves me right, we used to be right hand drive and was change during the american regime.
I dont think we had cars BEFORE the americans came around.![]()

LHD rules 'coz we drive on the *right* side of the road ;) Besides, who invented the car? And first to mass-produce it?Originally posted by Olive Drab

LHD is in China, 'Pinas, and the Arab countries, as well as most of Europe, N. and S America, and many parts of Africa. RHD is mostly by the Brits and the Commonwealth nations.
But when you're off-road, it doesn't matter if LHD or RHD :D
then why not make cars that are MHD Mid hand drive?
para mas madali ang importacion ng mga auto sa subic!
I think RHD nga tayo noong araw, Nauna na ding dumating ang brits dito kaysa kano, yun nga lang binalik tayo sa mga kastila!
kaya eto tayo ngayon hehehehehe
Guys, anong taon tayo sinakop ng brits? May auto na ba non? May LHD at RHD ba kabayo? hehehe![]()
