I have read some previous topics about various types of vans out there. Dad asked me what is the next best thing if he plans ot dispose the '98 Starex van. Preferrably diesel engine with lots of power and best interior and capacity size. Vehicle height can be an added feature. Oh, one more thing, it should not have a 1M price tag.

How about the Nissan Serena? ... although its gasoline powered, the SR20DE engine is powerful enough.

    Yup! Ok Nissan Escapade.

Yung Super Grandia definitely more than 1 M. Hindi lang ako sigurado sa sumunod na Grandia model.

Kung less then 1M, brand new, i'd go with the Urvan Escapade or Nissan Serena m/t (just remove the rearmost side facing seats for more interior room and luggage space).

How much is brand new Starex SVX now?

Kahit na po 2nd hand basta maalaga ang owner or driver. Gusto ko kasi yung upuan ng 2nd and 3rd row ng Starex. Hindi matigas at masakit sa long drives. Lalo na maraming seat variations pwedeng gawin.

Yun bang bagong Nissan Urvan Estate is big interms of size, but passenger comfort is not the same especially with those common seat formation. And another thing, the semi-flat nose will be difficult for the driver to estimate its blind corners, same as with our current Starex 9 seater SVX model.

I believe the new Space Gear model for 2003 has a gas driven engine. I'd like to remain with the diesel format for economical reasons.

Thanks for your inputs guys! I need more choices... I was in a blank state when he asked me what is the next best thing to Starex interms of interor space and engine performance.

my vote goes for the Nissan Serena and urvan escapade...

the hiace grandia, urvan estate and the spacegear gas and diesel version costs more than a Million pesos.

Apologies for the price correction peeps, I didn't notice that most vans nowadays have more than 1M on their price tags. Maybe we could up the ante a bit more to 1.5M

Gas or Diesel engine is an option as long as the engine is not that strained for the whole vehicle weight. But what we really want is the interior space and passenger comfort from the seats.

2nd query: How does gas engine fare with bigger body frames?

mbt::: Would it be too much to ask if we could audition from your Chevy Venture? :thanx:

ayaw ko ng vans na nasa ilalim ng driver seat ang engine
dehado ka in case of front collision
    and mainit sa puwet, maingay.

    buti pa starex, space gear.

baka pwede i-consider ang carnival? powerful 2.9l tdic, flexible & comfy configuration, (semi)car-like handling & ride, looks w/c are definitley better than those fridge's-on-wheels they call vans....my biased opinion, of course, being a relatively recent (happy) carnival owner :D

Dagdag mo ang veture, very comfy. di ko alam price tag. The new space gear is pretty nice too. So is the E150 for space and comfort. can't say much, puro 1 week tests lang ang binibigay sakin. As for driving an E150, it doesn't feel like its size. or baka nasanay na ako kay BUbbles.
