June 13th, 2004 12:20 AM #1Greetings everyone! Just wanted to ask if anyone has installed a catalytic converter in their diesel engine? Aside from preventing pollution, what else does it do? Does it help in minimizing diesel consumption?

a catalytic converter only does one thing, reduce polluting exhaust gasses from your exhaust pipe.

the catalytic converter breaks down the chemicals of your exhaust fumes into less toxic chemicals.

Catalytic converters help you lessen pollution. I remember when our driver pumped water sa exhaust pipe ng trooper.. (akala niya jeepney!) kaya ayun, nasira ang catalytic converter. Medyo malaki din ang nagastos...

Nope, Diesel engines only, usually yung mga bagong sasakyan na, like the trooper..

Some newer cars have catalytic converters factory equipted, like the 97-00 Toyota Corolla AE111.

Catalytic converters are standard equipment in other markets. Medyo nahuhuli lang tayo, but more and more vehicles are having it as standard equipment.
