nagpa schedule ako ng PMS for my trooper sa isuzu and they told me na mga 9k+ 8O daw ang gagastusin ko for the PMS. What can i do to save somehow? can i bring my own oil? or filter? suggestion naman please.
Of course the most important of all the warranty would not be void.
Which Isuzu dealer did you contact? The expensive service is every 20k km so nothing special at 10k km- ask them what they're changing.
You can change the oil and filters, using Petron's all terrain synth oil and OEM filters, then bring it in for service- specify not to change the oil/ filters. Worked for me and even got warranty repair on my throttle body.8)
ang alam ko pag hindi galing sa Isuzu ang oil and filter na ipapalit mo ma-vo-void ang warranty eh... they claim na meron silang sarili nilang oil and filter na ginagamit, parang specially made for the trooper...
Buy the parts first that the pms requires before leaving. Then, pay the service, separately, when claiming the car.
Why?
Yang mga tinamaan ng anak ng VAT. Yong price ng parts ay VAT inclusive na. Pag yan, pinagsama sa isang bill, papatak ang VAT sa gross (kasama service).
Think how much kita ng casa sa 10% ng engine oil na 2 gals * 1500 ea., then primary oil filter at 800, then fuel filter at 800, air filter wet type * 791, isuzu lsd., 3 liters * 845 ea.
* figures used not updated
But that was during my pre-DIY days. Now, I just buy the orig filters from casa, the engine oil from petron and use mobil dexron II for my ATF (which smells like guava).
The LSD was the hardest part, patay ako sa 845 x 3
mdpo,
If you bring your own oil, they'll probably void the warranty. You'll have to change it beforehand if you want to use Petron. Try Isuzu pasig, it's closer to QC and just as good as alabang service. Look for Syd- service advisor.
RedHorse,
Mobil has Dexron III ATF, our tranny is sensitive to overfill so check your dipstick level. I've also used mobil's LSA90, limited slip gear oil SAE90 on the trooper- works well and only costs P270/L.
Have you tried replacing the ATF in the power steering unit? Can't figure how to siphon off the psf since there's some sort of filter insert in the reservoir.
boybi,
Think LSD is replaced every 20k km only, why did the casa replace it so early? Isuzu's LSD is really priced at P800+/L x3L, so P6k for total PMS seems too cheap. What LSD brand did they use?
I was at the church when the mechanic replaced the power steering fluid, same with the AT. I was only able to witness on the brake fluid (ABS fuse was removed).
My DIY thing is limited to engine oil, and its filters.
jackaroo, the LSD was supposed to be replaced during the first PMS (1500kms) but their LSD was out of stock. they told me to go back there a few days later to have it replaced but i don't have time. so the LSD was only replaced on the 5000k PMS. i didn't know what brand of LSD they used, i just left the car at isuzu and went somewhere else and returned to pick it up at their estimated time of completing the PMS. i might be wrong at the price of the 5000Kms PMS, but i'm sure it is not more than P8,000.00. i'll try to look for the invoice if its still in the car. besides, at 5K PMS, the labor is still free.
boybi,
Never heard of LSD oil replaced at first service. Even the manual specifies the change at 10k km then every 20k km under severe use.
Which Isuzu dealer did the service?
RedHorse,
Have you checked your ATF level in the tranny when cold and idling? The shifts are much smoother when the level is spot on.
boybi,
I'd check what specific brand and type of LSD oil they used at isuzu pampanga. Think isuzu pasig uses "Isuzu LSD 80w90", quite expensive.
Best to call their servive dept prior to your service and ask exactly what they are going to do then check those items in the manual.
Is Isuzu pampanga owned by the group of Inteco(Isuzu balintawak)?
RedHorse,
No problem.
Got the best shift when ATF level(cold) was a tad below the high mark. Should never go beyond the hot level after a long drive(more than 3hrs).
