I test drove all the new models of compact suv's (CRV, RAV 4, Santa Fe, Mazda CX-7, Nissan Murano), best "bang for the buck" is the OUTLANDER. A few of the things that helped me decide:
1)on demand choice of FWD,4WD(60/40) and 4WD lock (50/50)
2)Automatic Stability Control (traction control that you can turn off as well)
3)3rd row seating for 2 kids or small adults that folds down on the floor
4)auto-levelling Xenon HID lights
5)FAST key entry (no keys needed, automatically unlocks if you go near the door)
6)Awesome 650W 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system (I have the 6 cd version w/ MP3) with a 10 in. sub at the back and steering wheel remote control
7)F1 style magnesium paddles on the steering wheel
8) 6 speed INVECS lll tiptronic CVT transmission (very smooth shifting)
9)aluminum roof decreases center of gravity same as in the EVO
10)scent absorbing roof lining
11)18 in. alloy wheels
12)a roomy cabin
13)very good handling dynamics and performance, the next EVO X will be based on the outlander's platform
14)very economical 162 bhp 2.4L 16V MIVEC engine (91 octane recommended)
15)matching leather steering wheel and shift knob
16) 9-10 cupholders
17) No.1 best-selling compact SUV in Japan (Nov. 05-Feb. 06)
18)very good reviews around the world
Be sure to test drive all your options.

Thanks for the info.
We'll be getting that car pretty soon as well. Our version would come with a 3.0 MIVEC engine option and it will be priced lower than the RAV4 sold here.
Quite exciting indeed.

February 25th, 2007 09:30 PM #47Last time I checked, it was around 1.468M and 1.668M for the two variants and both will have the 3.0 V6 engine.
Btw, Honda is accepting reservations for the new CRV and I even got to see the sales rep's training guide. There will be 3 variants, a 4x2 2.0L M/T, 4x2 2.0L A/T, and 4x4 2.4L A/T. Price range is from 1.3M to 1.5M daw according to the sales rep I talked to.

Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
