Oh yes, here we go again.Everybody else in the world is doing the right thing. But not America! Very strong words you have there.
I'm just delivering my opinion based on SCIENTIFIC data of where carbon emissions are the highest. Apparently, America is at #1. Stricter Carbon emission regulations were created in order to alleviate the problem but America chooses to give lame excuses instead of abiding by it. Fortunately, a lot of intelligent Americans are realizing that this Planet indeed needs saving.
no sweat its information that may be good for us and the society.
its also fun to see how car makers make an effort to bring out these gas guzzlers and try to make it fuel efficient and enviro safe? by producing hybrids or suv that run on flex fuel (that until know i do not understand. lol)
Fortunately, a lot of intelligent Americans are realizing that this Planet indeed needs saving.
You should realize too that some people might take offense of you opinion especially when you stated that most Americans are dumb and are out to destroy the planet. You should research more about what's going on in America from the corporate level to individual states and cities to combat global warming. Well, since your opinion changed from "some" to "a lot" is worth telling, let's leave this thing here and start talking about the Tahoe and its gas-guzzling engine.
I see you're from California, your Governor practically sweeped girlie men out there when he made CA the first Green state. I like the way Arnie handles opponents. Great success! (ala Borat). I'm curious though why other states aren't following suit so far (AFAIR).
75mph (120kph) is usually the average city cruising speed here with expected slowdowns on U-turns (genius MMDA Chair BF solved non-moving traffic through these). Spirited driving usually is 160-200kph (not in Manila City though except Roxas Blvd where i was able to hit 190 one evening driving a 2.2L diesel).
Sure, trucks use diesel, that's a given. I'm talking more about SUVs.
7.0L V8 ancient diesel engines sure does work but:
2.5L I4 CRDi VGT 170hp / 380Nm (chipped data unavailable): 279 ft lb
3.0L V6 CRDi VGT 240Hp / 480Nm (chipped data unavailable): 353 ft lb
so, imagine the power of a 4.0L CRDi E-VGT V8.
Given that, i wonder why they keep sticking to petrol guzzlers to haul these very heavy _____ (insert synonyms for junk here. hehehe).
I admit, Metro Manila's air condition isn't that good. Actually, it'll need a lot of work (But that's NOT the topic here). Being a 3rd world country getting raped left and right by developed countries isn't exactly easy. The "govt" here recently signed the Biofuels bill to help ease the pollution a bit, step by step, we'll get there.
Good thing i live in Quezon City.
In other news, countries in Europe and Asia (practically most G countries) are doing the initiative of making things more environment friendly, there's the Kyoto Protocol, RoHS, etc. US and Australia both signed KP but didn't ratify it, negating the agreement they agreed to. (LOL!)
I don't know which part of the Metro you live in that allows you to go 75mph cruising speed but the last time(November 2006) I drove there most cars couldn't even go that fast because of the traffic not to mention the pot holes the size of the moon. Heck, I have family and friends visit here and can't drive because we go too fast according to them since they barely drive 100kph most of the time in the Metro.
As far as saying that Asia does more to keep the air clean than the US, that's a joke right? Here read this it's from the ADB and says that New Delhi and Beijing are 5X more polluted than New York and that Singapore is only on par with US cities. http://www.speroforum.com/site/artic...uted+worldwide
Your link is for a per capita measurement which favors the Philippines and most countries where a majority of the population
can't afford to buy food much more a vehicle. It ranks Guam (where I grew up) at number 6 and it has a population of less than 200,000 but each household probably has 3-5 cars and a boat. China, Thailand, Mexico, and the Philippines are all towards the bottom and we all know most people wouldn't really go to these countries for the fresh air. Maybe you should find one that shows emissions per vehicle on the road and not per capita to get a more accurate reading. BTW could it be that we have one of the highest carbon emissions because we are also the largest market for most if not all car makers. More new cars and trucks are sold in this country than any other country. Thus being the largest group of cosumers it would only be logical that we have the highest emissions. FYI alot of other states already follow the Califonia emissions standards. For the states that haven't adopted the standards their emissions standard are still better than what the Philippines uses or tries to pass as a emissions regulation.
Sorry for the OT.
BTT
The new GM900 platform looks more feminine now compared to the Ford products. Just my .02 cents.

i talked to the reps dun sa alabang. they have orders na on the new tahoe and suburbanrs kahti hindi pa sha officially launched. alabang pa lang hindi nila alam kung meron na rin orders sa ibang delalerships
