my Indian colleague was talking about this car...

it's 397K Rs for the Reva AC (the one with aircon, the mid-range model) ex. Bangalore.

so 500K local price is quite believable. Halos 1:1 ang PHP to INR.

Sayang, in 2003 it was 250K Rs. That price would still fly today.

    Just bumping this up.

I found two articles dated April 2009.

    http://technogra.ph/2009/04/02/revai...-evnnovations/

    http://www.yugatech.com/blog/toys-ga...-electric-car/

    From the 2nd link:
The Reva car has a top speed of 80 kmph with a maximum range of 80 kilometers on a single charge. At current Meralco rates, that comes down to just over Php1.00 per kilometer compared to Php4.00 for gas-driven counterparts.

    Complete specs of the Reva:
    2-Door, 2+2-seater hatchback
    Rear Wheel Drive
220V, 2.2kw high frequency switch mode type charger
48V, 200-Amp-hr, EV Lead Acid Batteries
    Automatic, Direct-Drive transmission
    13″ tires
    700kg curb weight

Distributed by EVnnovations in the Philippines and comes in white, silver, yellow, black red and blue colors. No final retail price but they said it will be somewhere between Php500,000 to Php600,000.

For a price tag of between P500K to P600K, it would still have a problem competing with regular petrol powered cars for potential customers. And given it is so small, it doesn't help that potential buyers might feel unsafe driving such a small vehicle on Philippine roads.

Why buy it if you can build your own? The REVAi has no advantages over the e-Jeep except perhaps cuteness. Too small. Too expensive. Too unmarketable.

For an extra 500k? I could do this:

And add enough extra battery packs to double the range, even with the AC on.

There was that one that was displaying at QC Memorial Circle... but I don't think they're still active.

There was one that was selling near MOA. They were the ones who supplied the MOA trams. They're gone now, too.

The G-Car website isn't up anymore. They used to exhibit at QC Circle. The G-Car is basically an open cart... like a Golf Cart, except with road-worthy wheels and (hopefully) brakes and a nicer body..
    Sayang ito..
