other perspective to consider also is the parts industry...

malaki ang malulugi sa kanila bcoz the bulk of their orders came from jurassic engines of jeepneys na alam natin madali masira so tendency is to buy immediately kasi theres a need (otherwise suffer ang boundary for a particular day) at mura even the pricing is a competition also sa mga parts dealer...syempre mas gusto ng mga dealer na lagi masira mga jeepneys na yan para lagi sila magpalit ng piyesa at mas mabilis din ROI nila, di ba kahit sa kapitbahay mo meron na din parts supplier kung saan madaming jeepneys...

so its a domino effect if ever the jeepneys could phase-out...specially mga marginalized sector of society na mga drivers at operators where the biggest chunk of VOTES came from, are the politicians willing to sacrifice it??? i doubt it!*!

my proposal is to replace w/ a smaller one but w/ new engine and high ground clearance...efficient in all aspects of operation, i believe...

SUZUKI BRAVO MUTLICAB w/ aircon pa...for those plying Metro Manila roads, to minimize the use of limited space lalo na sa main roads...

then sa province na lang yun mga KC2700 or Hyundai Porter, at least sure tayo sa safety and reliability ng mga manufacturers...

masyado maliit multi cab for manila imho..

maybe what government can do is gawing TAX FREE muna yung KC2700, Porter etc... then 10 to 15 years to pay sa mga magpapalit from jeepney... or gawin parang boundery-hulog para sa mga jeepney drivers.

No use rin if we approve of better cars pero left & right din yung pag-approve sa franchise. MM streets will still end up in a similar fate -- CROWDED !

Dapat konti lang approved franchise. Let's say, max of 5 per area covered ?

pero i think that (armscor's & jedi's thoughts) would be a nice place to start. at least napalitan ng isang sasakyan na talagang may real engineering involved kesa sa jeepney na hit and miss engineering.

i think sir jedi feasible yun plano ko kasi po para magkaroon ng equal opportunity ang lahat ng involved sa transport sector...LRT/MRT & buses for long routes, taxis for any route kaya ang multicab for short distances na lang yun nga lang in a limited franchise in a certain area as what sir renzo suggested...

tax incentive scheme is an excellent idea for a start up business, kung pwede sa mga brand new vans bakit hindi iapply sa mga Multi-Pupose Vehicles w/ much lower DP & MI to boot if possible pati sana franchise to lure more operators to buy brand new units and w/ options pa sana ang government na bilhin ang mga jeepney units ng reasonable cost na pwede gamitin ang mga engines & transmission sa mga agricultural machineries na lang di po ba and the body parts irepair or ireconditioned into hardware materials para naman iutilize sa mga infra projects parang recycle goods...dami options wala naman political will ang nagmamagaling nating public servants!

There is no future with jeepneys.

A Future for Jeepneys (What do you think?)
