I experienced that "whining" sound for about a month which i thought was normal, not until last saturday when the idler bearing (tensioner) of the compressor belt stuck-up on me causing the drive belt to snap due to friction while in Batangas 8O. I was able to come home though but with a/c off. I had the car serviced at the casa and they just replaced the bearing and the drive belt and no more "whining" sound.
