sir, this thread is 12 years old. and ebbfoils last showed up 11 years ago.
allow me, instead...
if the base ignition timing were adjusted correctly for idling... no, it won't hurt the engine.. but it will hurt your pride and your pocketbook.. your ignition timing will be frozen... your car won't accelerate well, and your gas bill will be more than what it should be, were that advancer working.
some people, however, advance the ignition timing, to make up for its non-functioning advancer. this might cause damage in the long run, as the ignition timing would always be advanced... from idling to high speed.
pa-ayos mo na po... hindi naman ganon ka-mahal. and surplus advancers are a-plenty.. just make sure it's not leaking.

Buti nabuhay ulit itong thread. And any idea kung bakit inalis yun?
on older cars, there are two ignition advance systems in place.
to compensate for the shortened time where the piston moves, a centrifugal advancer is used to optimize the power stroke pressures.
to compensate for an increased volume of fuel (increased engine load), a vacuum advancer is used to give ample time to completely burn the increased amount of fuel.
if the vacuum advancer is not working, it takes a delay until the engine speed catches up and uses the centrifugal advancer but the total advance (centrifugal advance for increased speed plus the vacuum advance for the wider opened throttle plate) will not be reached. fuel consumption will increase and the power output is not at optimum
...yung vacuum advancer walang tubes na nakakabit...
does that mean, the rubber hoses that used to be there, have disappeared?
or do you mean, there is no provision for attaching the rubber hoses to the advancer at all..?
so how does the car pull, sir? malakas bang humatak, o para bang kulang ng hininga..?
