Yung iba used oil sa mga auto shop, para libre daw.

I use lithoum grease or wurth synthetic.

for moto and bicycle chains i use SAE 250 (super thick) gear oil thinned out a bit for penetration. then the thinner evaporates leaving behind the thick gear oil that's fling resistant

ang mahal naman niyan!

nung unang panahon, singer sewing machine oil din ang ginagamit namin. gamit rin namin ito sa tapalodo at frame. para makintab!
"huwag lang mag-pidal kapag long pants na puti ang suot."

Delikado yang brake cleaner. Even WD40 ingat ako pag sa bike gagamitin. Pag pumasok yan sa hub then sa bearing, tangal pati grasa.

i used to squirt wd40, as an un-clogger and as a lubricant.
now, i use it to loosen joints and dry items.
i think WD has a lubricant variant naman.
for light duty, i use another brand for lubrication purposes. a spray-on lithium grease.
for heavy duty, automotive use, i still use the "fingers application" type of grease.

WD40 is overrated, has very few legitimate uses it's ok as penetrating fluid and as a solvent. but completely $ucks as a lubricant. extremely bad for preventing rust

for around the house lubrication ATF in a needle-tipped squeeze bottle is the best

as for silicone sprays i avoid those. i got various silicone lubes from low-viscosity silicone oils (like condom lube) to medium like treadmill lube. to greases. i apply them w/ cotton swabs or similar

but carousell lists ads of wd40 12 oz. spray cans of from 390 to 450 bucks,
and 6.5 oz for 286 bucks.

i do not know if delivery costs are included.

from what i understand, after reading the WD40 literature,
it was not designed primarily as a lubricant.
it was designed for loosening stuck joints and bolts, water displacement (for wet hi tension circuits!), cleaning of dirt, and other ingenious uses.

one can find these other ingenious useful uses for WD40 in google.

i once would spray WD40 onto my squeeking fan belt tension pulley.
it would initially work as an anti-squeek agent, but the squeek would return after 2 weeks or so.
truly, a lousy lubricant.
i had since made a more permanent solution: replacement of the idler assembly.

i also used WD40 on my bintilador bushings. it worked, but only for a couple of weeks.
i also tried singer sewing machine oil. it would also work, but only for a couple of weeks.
the more permanent solution to bintilador woes, is replacement of the entire bintilador, or the bushings/armature.

It might be a placebo effect, but an old timer recommended that to me because the "hinges" on my hands won't move the way it is. Of course I didn't believe him, but one day I lost my one and only Flanax. I tried it and it worked!!!

When I saw my neighbor the following week, he just smiled when I told him it worked. He added that kerosene also works wonder.

my father, a central luzon farmer at heart, regularly used kerosene (ga-as) to lubricate his legs and arms, after a bout of unwanted-ligo-sa-sudden-downpour or lusong-sa-baha. he also used it as prophylaxis, applying it before the lusong.
'buti na lang, no one in the house smoked.

I use WD40 as a penetrant mainly to undo rusty bolts and screws. It's also a good tar remover in a pinch.

I have a Singer machine oil bottle for lubricating small moving parts. Quite frequently, I use it to restore sleeve-bearing computer fans back to health.

I use it to "clean" (specifically door locks), lubricate (car) door mechanisms/hinges and remove rusted bolts, nuts and screws

also very helpful when drilling thick metals

but nothing beats old fashioned grease.

as for the WD-40 Silicone, I'm using it on my window railings.

agree sir.. do not use WD40 as lube.. ok sya as penetrating fluid to loosen nuts and bolts.. pero as lube? lalo mag rust yung metal parts dyan..

nung nasa manufacturing ako, may isang matalinong technician dun na ginagamit yan wd40 as surface lube para sa pag move ng heavy die tool.. kaya pala kinakalawang yung mold press.. haha.. shungaers..

yes effective nga, pero yung mess na ginawa at rust na nag form..

sa window track with rubber, ok naman sakin ang spray as maintenance lang.. kasi yung medium silicone eh nag attract masyado ng dust.. yung spray type thin film lang iniiwan nyan sa rubber. minsan kasi after ng malakas na ulan eh maganit na yung window tracks
