January 4th, 2005 03:16 PM #21Hello!
For those who had already modified their altis stock air filters to Shimota Twister air intakes; Just want to know, how they had handled the built-in air flow sensor.
Most of the Toyota mechanics at the casa that I have talked to say that changing to open air filter would prompt the engine malfunction indicator to light & that it may damage the computer sensors.
Totoo ba yun?
Thanks in advance!

i drive an altis myself and seeing the air intake box it does have a lot of sensors in it.
try to ask around auto accessories shops and see if they have a specific open type air filter kit for the altis. it should come complete with the adaptor for the numerous air sensors in the altis.

aside from K&N, HKS and MONSTER drop-in filters are also top notch. both japan filters so they cost approx 2k to 4k depending on diff cars
there's this youtube article, about a 2000s altis, that had a high rpm on cold start (2000+ daw),...
high idle RPM at engine start
