grade 3 = 1 line sa head ng bolts, very very uncommon.
grade 4 = 2 lines (parang V pero di magkaduktong yung line), also not commonly used.
grade 5 = 3 lines na parang Y pero di rin magkaduktong yung lines. this is the most common bolt used in automotive chasis and mountings, and also the most common industrial bolt/screw.
    grade 8 = 6 lines parang asterisk (*)

a triangle in the center of the bolt head means high temp (triangle means "fire" or "heat" in chemistry, remember?)

pag japanese or european ang car mo then it will most probably be a metric thread bolt, that is the bolt size is expressed in millimeters. the thread pitch is expressed in threads/10 mm, or sometimes in millemeters/thread.

pag american car then it will be in asme thread size, or inches. size is expressed in diameter X threads/inch, like 1/2x13 UNC, meaning 1/2 inch diameter x 13 threads/inch coarse pitch thread. or 1/2X18 UNF, meaning 1/2 inch diameter x 18 threads/inch fine pitch thread.

usually pag high tension applications ay fine pitch thread ang gamit dahil mas maliit kasi ang lead angle ng thread so mas mataas ang torque rating (a higher lead angle tends to make the bolt loose under tension).

    Great info.
Do stainless bolts come in these different grades?
What's the usual type of metal used for the special bolts?
