    Hi peeps,

Just want to share my sad experience and hopefully maiwasan ng iba. had my aircon repaired before new year and when the repair shop said that my compressor had to be replaced, I opted to get a surplus one. Abot kasi ng 19k kapag brandnew. pero ngayon sira na naman aircon so I decided to finally end this so I will be going back to GENAIRE this weekend to have a new compressor installed. Grabe talaga ang panghihinayang ko, umabot na sa 13k gastos ko last time so dahil sa pagtitipid ko lalo pa ngayon lumaki ang gastos at abala na naman.

    Hay! Sakit talaga sa bulsa!

pre...swerte mo nga eh ikaw isang beses lang nangyari sa iyo yan eh.

ako sa katigasan ng ulo ko, katangahan ko and kastupiduhan ko dalawang beses nangyari sa akin yan, both dun sa dating singkit ko.

una auxillary fan. tumigil na sya dahil sa kalumaan. what i did is to save money, kumuha ako ng surplus tapos pina install ko. inabot din ng 1,500.00 lahat-lahat, pero after two months tumigil ulit...as in sira na... para matapos sakit ng ulo ko, pinapalitan ko ng bago sa carsavers sa makati. costs around 4,500.00, including installation.

pangalawang case, aircon compressor din. nasira dahil na rin sa kalumaan ulit. what i did is guess what?? to save money, bumili ulit ako ng surplus. inabot din ako ng 3k including installation, pero after 5 months. ayun...may singaw na. eh mahirap sa lahat eh walang aircon lalo na kung umuulan. so nagkabit na ako ng brand new (sanden) from cats las pinas before. inabot ako ng 14 thou.

    lesson....

pag vital parts, mas sigurado kung bibili ng brandnew. much better kung oem. mas makakatipid ka in the long run.

I have a friend who bought a surplus A/C compressor a year ago, hanggang ngayon okay pa naman.

Pero tama mo yung sabi mo happy_gilmore, pag vital parts talaga kelangan brandnew or if you can afford the oem's mas okay.

Pinakavital talaga compressor... yun lang kasi gumagalaw (other than the fan)

Dumaan narin ako sa rebuilt/surplus route sa alternator at talagang di worth it... sobrang tsambahan talaga at most cases di tatagal ng 6-8 months. syempre kung sinuwerte ka tatagal...

    Do the math nalang...

Surplus units costs about 5-8K depende kung R134A o R12 type... pag nagpapalit ka ng compressor usually palit ka narin ng drier... add P800... tapos freon... average ng R12 mga P300-400, R134 mga P800... then for sure papapalitan nila fittings at hoses mo, add another P800 for 2-4 fittings and hose... then papacleaning ka nadin kasi kasama yun sa repair... P600-800... + labor... all in all aabutin ka rin AT LEAST 8-9K...

After a few months either may sisingaw (best case scenario) sa system mo, papalit kang either hose, fitting, expansion valve, pressure switch or o-rings... tapos gastos ka ulit for freon refill... labor at parts...

Do that 2-3x a year... para ka narin bumili ng orig na compressor...

I went through that mga 4x... 2 compressors, 1 evap, 2 pressure switches, 1 oring, 2 fittings later, I gave up and bought a new compressor... dun lang tumagal at naging consistent ang aircon ko... Napadowngrade pa ako ng R12 compressor...

To think na the first time my AC compressor gave way, my friend who runs Coolmate Denso in Pasong Tamo was offering me a full AC replacement (palit compressor, condenser, drier, evap etc) for P25K lang (plus labor)... edi sana naka all-orig Denso na ako, R134 padin at no worries...

Ganun rin ang kalabasan at super nahassle pa ako pag nawala AC.. as in SUPERhassle...

its ok to get surplus parts. unfortunately, i wouldnt recommend getting a surplus compressor as you cant really visually inspect kung ok pa sya. Even if you do a vacuum test (pihit sabay hawak sa hose) and it checks ok, theres no guarantee na tatagal eto.

Anyway, i think all of us tsikot peeps on a budget more or less went through the same experience :D

other vital parts i can think of:

    a) alternator
    b) shock absorbers
    c) fans (radiator/auxillary)

I don't really recommend buying surplus compressors. I would rather have my compressor opened up and worked on.

Agree rin ako kay otep, nasira orig na sanden ko before and pinabukas ko nalang... they changed the 6 pistons inside... mahal pero at least talagang reconditioned to new instead of "hoping ok tong surplus"

    otep pareho tayong scenario!

The compressor cost 12k plus the drier, expansion valve, surplus condenser, aux fan at labor eh umabot ng 16K.

Yung compressor pala ng crv sirain sobra, I went through 3 compressors in 4 years!! nagtanong tanong ako and talagang madali daw ito masira kahit na orig pa. Yung orig nga na galing casa lasted 2 years lang
