are frameless wiper blades worth it?
found this in the protegetech forums:
Advantages:
- Sophisticated look
The new ford focus and other European cars are using this kind of wiper, no doubt the future of wiper.
- Unique bracketless design
Less joints and parts, less problems
- Longer Life
Less steel and joints expose to the elements, less wear and tear.
- Unique to the HLT wiper, replacing the joints and bracket of conventional wiper is the steel tension spring, it’s a unique material that is durable and flexible. It flexes on one direction, (in flexes only in one direction, in the wiper’s case up down,) but won’t flex in other. This flexible yet durable piece of steel strip allows the wiper to adapt to any windshield surface. A system like this is very important because different cars have different windshield curvatures, thus a wiper that is able to perfectly adapt to the curvature of a car ensures better wiping performance
- Enclosed
The steel tension spring is enclosed in a rubberize material, significantly eliminating exposed steel parts to protect against elements like heat, rain, dust and rust
- Integrated aerodynamic wind spoiler
Wind passing the through the wind spoiler creates down force on the wiper, making the wiper hug the windshield all the more. Wind noise is also reduced
- Reinforced Metal Bracket
Other soft wiper blades / Witem wiper blades being sold before only have a plastic bracket, these types of wiper blade with plastic bracket are dangerous, they tend to break and fly-off in the middle of the road, sometimes hitting other cars.
Plastic brackets cannot sustain the stress of wind passing through the wiper, and elements like heat.
HLT wiper blade has a metal bracket, ensuring that the wiper blade and the wiper arm have a sturdy connection, able to take on the stresses of the environment.
- Universal Quick-Clip Adaptor
A quick clip adaptor makes installation easy and effortless. Just make sure you here a “click” sound that means the wiper is locked to the arm.

it all comes down to the price. It might be more expensive and difficult to find a replacement when it comes time to have it changed.

question is how the wiperblade reacts at high speeds, kung matatanggal o hinde. A fellow clubmate has on of these, natanggal siya during a funrun, don't know whether its a design flaw or nagkataon lang. For now am satisfied with the traditional framed wiperblades.
