I read somewhere that for A/T cars, the proper way to park uphill/ downhill is to put car in neutral while stepping on the brakes then put the hand brake up. (make sure that you crank it up to the maximum) Slowly let go of the brake pedal and make sure the hand brake's holding up. Switch off the engine then shift to park. After doing this procedure, haven't had any problems with shifting from park to reverse or drive when parked uphill/ downhill. Although i might be wrong.. let's wait for the expert to shed some light on this..

you're right, apply parking brake first then transmission in park. that way you'll not need excessive effort to release the parking pawl on your auto-transmission.

the procedure should apply to all type of parking conditions.
for additional safety you should do the following:
    1. when parking downhill, point the wheels towards the curve or gutter
    2. when parking uphill, point the wheels away from the curve or gutter

    korek!!!

tandaan, bago ipasok at bago alisin sa P ang gear control....press the brake pedal first.....

kung magpapark.... 1.brake pedal-2.hand or parking brake then 3.shift to P.
