AFAIK, walang goma ang solenoid.
It is primarily a a loop of wire, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a magnetic field (hehe, galing wikipedia yang definition na yan).
Nagloloko pa VTEC mo? VTEC kasi won't engage when the oil pressure is low, among other factors. Baka yung leak is galing sa engine mismo, tumatapon lang sa solenoid. Gawa ka ng VTEC light to find out! Pero mararamdaman mo din naman kung nag-eengage ang VTEC by the rumble of the engine (for SOHC VTEC-E engines, 2.2k rpm ang engagement point)

sa isang shop na pinagtanungan ko gusto pa ibaba yung engine and ang dami gustong gawin (para siempre majustify yung mahal na singil). ayos na yung sa akin. dinala ko sa kakilala ko talaga na mekaniko. sabi niya meron yang parang rubber na ring na papalitan mo. less than P100. malutong na daw kasi.

I had experienced that oil leak on my 96 Civic Vtec. All I did was bought the Vtec o-ring seal (figure 8 rubber seal) worth about P400 sa casa. DIY lang and replacement. You just have to remove the 4 bolts holding VTEC solenoid.
