    hello fellow tsikoteers,

tanong ko lang, recently kasi i tried to check yung oil level ng car ko. so while the engine was running, i took the dipstick out, to my surprise there was oil on the whole length of the dipstick. so pinunasan ko and i tried again, pag alis ko ng dipstick the whole length of the stick was again covered with oil! can anyone tell mo kung bakit ganun? is it because the engine was running?

di ko tuloy maread ng tama yung oil level.

    thanks in advance.

the best time to check your oil level is early morning before you start your car and on a level ground (not inclined)

hindi magiging accurate ang reading mo kung nakabukas/umaandar engine kasi nagsi-circulate yung langis eh

wala problem. kaya covered ng oil dip stick mo dahil you checked it while the engine is running. oil is circulating within the engine... wag mo na lang ulitin.

    Here we go again...

Check it at operating temperature with the engine off for a few minutes. From there it should read between max and min, better at max of course. Thanks to Blink for this info

the oil dip stick tube extends down to the oil sump so it should be ok to check the oil level with the engine running. check for excessive blow-by, maybe there is too much positive crancase pressure and it is pushing the oil up the tube.

hmmm.... the manual says to get the level when engine is off. a mechanic would also say to read the level when engine is off. oil sump is oil sump. the upper portion of the engine needs oil for lubrication.
