speaking of which, does anybody needs a 7th gen civic odometer? I never get to use it dahil I sold the Civic after 7-months. :evillaugh

its a good spare just in case your blow your odometer fuse and resets to zero ;)

ot lang. so far ano na ang mga naging problema mo sa car mo, i hope you don't mind if i ask. ako kasi nearing 150K na e. so far ok pa naman for a 10-year old car (mine is turning 10 this april! )

for a normal driver/owner/seller, buying that fancy stuff isnt cost effective. Maybe for most dealerships then can afford that since their ROI on that equipment is faster. pero para kay juan delacruz, spare odometer lang ang katapat nyan ;)

Yes, but the point was that digital odos CAN be easily tampered with. Computers may be high tech but they're far from secure. For example, computerizing the elections can make cheating completely transparent even easier than it could prevent it.

before i bought my civic, me tiningnan akong 99 civic sa used car agent, 48,000km daw ang mileage...tiningnan ko tama naman reading, pero nung sinilip ko ang screw dun sa ilalim sa may instrument panel, me gasgas na yung ulo ng screw! it only means na tampered yung mileage ng car.di ko na lang sinabi dun sa ahente para di sya mapahiya.bagets na fil-chi yung ahente.

sa alam ko pag sinaksak yug computer lalabas talga yung tunay na milage coz sa volvo 850 ng frend ko ganun e sira na odo nya sa harap pero apg sinaksak na sa comp lumalabas tunay na milage pero since el yung lancer wala atang pang computer yun

ang masakit neto, yung parang nangyari sa friend ko. may nabili sya na oto na around 30000 kms pa lang.

tapos nung 3rd year ng oto nya, naputulan sa ng timing belt. yun pala, ang actual na tinakbo na nung oto nya is around 100k. yung nasa oto nya is around 60000 k pa lang.

nakita lang nya yung record sa casa nung pinaservice nya. so that means, inatras yung odo nya ng more than 30000 k

i read a story on edmunds.com a few years back. writer sya na nag undercover used car salesman. there's this guy that "specializes" in odometer "rewinding". i think a power drill was involved

i was at buendia auto center one time. i asked about the mileage of an exsior in display. sabi nung mama, "88." pagtingin ko sa odo, nakita ko "68." sorry if this post is conclusive. hindi ko naman sigurado. pero marami na rin ako nabasa about tampered used cars, both digital and analog odo. mayroon din dito sa better living, ung ayala shuttle driver na naka-barong, pansin ko mukhang inistop niya ang speedometer niya. sa mga may balak pa mandaya ng odo, baka karmahin kayo sana! hahaha.

OT : You must be referring to the shuttle driver near Big C along Russia Street. Yup he is normally in Barong, anyway I am also from Levitown.

Yes digital meter can now be tampered especially by used car dealers. Hold on to your seats but even service booklets have tampered entries. I am talking to experience. Saw this really nice Rav owned by actor Marvin Agustin in a gas station being sold. A week later it was already in CarsR US along Edsa near Greenhills with a different meter reading. Saw the service booklet and verified with Toyota, whoaaaa , the entries are fake. Moral of the story, validate the service booklet with the casa. Bought a GLI before on a weekend and made a contract with the seller that if the warrranty booklet has been tampered he will return the money. Galing daw sa Ayala Alabang yung dating mayari kaya mababa yung metro at may service booklet pa, guess what I returned the car two days later after talking to the original owner and Toyota Alabang. Bottomline, be very wise and resourceful.
