    any other symptoms?

smoke could be an indication na oil/water/coolant/a mix of any of the three could be entering the combustion process. has he been seeing any leaks around the engine block itself?

    agree with you m_ron.

MAF sensor... hmmm. nagkakaproblema lang dun kapag nagmodify na nang Air Filter. sa LXi namin, ganun e. kala ko ECU na ang problema- yun pala, fouled-up throttle body.

CRV is map based. installing a filter should not be that hard to do and should not cause problems with the sensors.

    definitly maf sensor yan.

OT:This is a common problem with later models mercedes the maf sensors goes south even if you have a stock air filter box. They just go south, next thing you know is your rpm is up and down. The maf sensor is made by bosch.

again, crv's DO NOT have maf sensors.

idle problems are cause by you IACV.
