ill effects of overfilling oil?

Mga bro, what are the ill effects of overfilling your engine oil? Kase, my mother-in-law's car (civic vti 99), when I checked dipstick, the oil level was way above the high level (parang 1/2" higher). I noticed oil leaks na sa cylinder head cover (maybe because sobra nga oil, naghanap ng lalabasan yung oil -- tama ba?). What other parts kaya affected? Thanks in advance!

yup. maghahanap ng outlet yung excess oil. pressurized ang oil na yan when the engine is running so kapag umaandar, aapaw talaga sya. thus, marumi ang engine bay mo...depending on how much oil is INXS.

Pag nasira plug seals then basa ang plugs. Checked plugs, may konting oil nga. So sira ang plug seals. How would you know naman if sira ang valve seals? Any indications? Thanks again

pero yung kotse ko.. nung last time ay overfill din ang oil. nag excess dun sa max... pero wala namang naging effect. 10K kms ko ginamit before ko i change oil ulit. Ok naman, wala naman naging effect.

In a short period walang effect yan but in the long run yun seals mo mag leak.

tama iyon mag build up ng pressure sa loob at maghahanap ng malalabasan ang oil.

Alam ko those plug seals are like rubber o-rings, and with too much oil pressure, they will bust and let oil into the plugs. If this happens, replace the o-ring(s) concerned. Buy original since the material of replacement ones are too hard such that it will get busted sooner.

For other leaks, just look around your engine where oil is coming out. The rubber parts in those areas may need replacement as well.

no major effects naman. just a slightly more sluggish engine because there is more resistance because of too much oil. aside from that, dapat naman lumabas sa breather yung excess oil. simplest solution would be to drain the excess.

ito pa na experience ko na yung overfilling dahil nilagyan ko pa ng oil additives nag busted yun valve cover yung rubber. possible din na valve seals ang masira.. where nka locate yung o-rings? pag busted o-rings mausok ba?

ang pinakamahirap nito ay yun seal ng driveshaft ang masira. hirap palitan. stick to the manufacturer's specs nalang.

It might damage your catalytic converter if you have one.

crank skaft counter weights touching the oil level equates to at least 5HP power loss...

another thing is that if ever oil is way above the normal level, bubbles develop inside the engine... thus, oil starvation occurs because of the bubbling oil...

question: habang umaandar yung engine mo, tapos chineck mo dipstick mo,normal lang ba nasa low level yung oil? ty
