    Hello Folks,

Need advise on a job estimate.

This is for a 2012 D-4D HiAce GL Grandia, Manual transmission. Hydrolocked engine - connecting rods bent, one piston could not be removed from the cylinder.

Flood water entered the engine through the air intake system. Approximately less than one foot deep yung flood, hindi pinasok yung interior ng van. Family driver attempted to start the engine multiple times nung namatay ang makina sa baha.

Will purchase a brand new engine (original, surplus not a consideration) rather than having the damaged engine overhauled since we intend to keep the van for family use.

Wala itong insurance, napag-sisihan na at nakapag move-on na. Current concern is reviving the van, hopefully as a safe vehicle.

For the experts out there, which among the items in the quote of Toyota Bicutan is not essential? Are the below assemblies really affected when the air intake system gulps water into the engine?

    • Common Rail Assembly
    • Starter Assembly
    • Injector Assembly

Php 201,292 ang total nitong 3 items. What do I look out for to confirm na damaged nga at kailangan ito palitan?

Eyesore item list below! Sorry just pasted from excel. I'm getting errors when trying to attach picture of the quotation.

    Thanks all.

    Out of the box suggestion.

If you're willing to spend php 680k+ on a new engine for a 5 year old van, why not sell the old van as-is (believe me, may bibili nyan)?

    And get a new one.

    My line of thinking,

    680k + cost of selling van (as-is)

The remainder, pwede mo amortize, etc.

Naka hydrolock na ako dati ng kotse.

Casa overhaul (not new engine) and almost 10 years later, the car is still running great.

Don't think you need a new engine if the car was repaired properly.

around a million or less lang ata Foton View na Hiace clone, close to the 700k repair bill
transfer the seats, trims, badges. bagong vehicle na instead of just the engine

or buy a used local engine, if the connotation of surplus = used japanese engines

TOTAL JOB COST 679,738.00 + 150K nalang kamo aba mag isip isp ka..

kung mabibili ko ng 150K gastusan ko ng 100K para sa surplus engine 250K lang tatakbo na yan.

agree with the opinion that better to sell na lang ang buy a new unit.

Add ko pa, na hindi tayo sure na maganda kalalabasan nyan. So another trial and error na naman yan at syempre gastos na naman

    ^

The air intake opening is just below the lower right hand portion of the front wind screen. Small discreet looking plastic thing, one will see it when the "hood" of the vehicle is opened.

At least that is how it is for the 2017 Grandia.

    BUT:

The air filter can be accessed below, almost level with the front passenger exterior footstep.

If this was not securely fastened, (air filter cover clips) water will get in. No doubt about that.
