help! consuming too much oil

my carb ae92 is consuming too much oil, travel ko is 80km per day, 5 days a week. In a month, naka 2.5 liters ako!!! pang add ko na oil is yung shell(red). ano po kaya problem. mali lang ba gamit ko oil or may tama na engine ko. di naman smoke belcher, at ganda naman hatak. pansin ko lang may usok na lumalabas pag open ko oil cap. help pls.

blow-by is a condition where the piston rings can no longer contain the oil from going up to the combustion chamber. The oil "blows by" the piston rings and gets combusted

pwede rin may oil leak pero i doubt it coz the poster did not mention it in his symptoms.

In overhauling the main target for replacement is the piston rings and/or cylinder liners and basically anthing worth replacing like journal bearings etc.

yun po ang masakit, i don't see any sign of leaks, can you give me an estimate kung magkano gagastusin ko sa overhaul(labor, parts, etc..)huhuhu

usually yung usok na nakikita mo lumalabas sa oil cap does'nt always say na blowby na engine mo. you mentioned na maganda ang hatak so blowby would be my last suspicion. wala ring leaks. you might do a tuneup muna sa engine mo before you decide a costly overhaul.

tune-up? what would a tune-up do to counter heavy oil consumption? what would you "tune-up"?

my brother owns an ae92 corolla. he experienced the same thing masyadong matakaw sa oil about the same as iliads case. the problem is city driving lang naman sya. ok naman din ang batak nung car. so we had a mechanic check it. mataas yung idling nung makina so he adjusted it. ngayon namamatayan naman sya. we replaced the fuel filter and air filter and cleaned the carb and fuel lines. yun ok na. after a month napansin namin di na sya matakaw sa oil. we suspected the high idling was the culprit. kasi pag mataas ang rev ng makina it will work harder causing more oil to be burned.

although maraming causes ng matakaw sa oil and since iliads owns an ae92 same as my brothers', i felt na he should tuneup muna yung makina b4 deciding to do a top overhaul or overhaul na tlaga.

one thing more, if an engine is blowby there will always be signs of leaks sa crankcase kasi yung blowby gases will force oil out kung saan sya pwedeng lumabas.

Jim, simple question lang yan..... WHERE DID THE OIL GO? Kahit malakas ang hatak etc, you still could have a blow-by. A blown engine can still produce the same power as one in good condition. Any engine consumes oil, but not to the extent of near 1L a week.

Iliad, Here's another check: Pull out the DIPSTICK while the engine is running. If you see smoke........ alam mo na

hehehehe oo nga sir PK eh tama san napunta yung oil. kaya lang walang leaks yung engine. pag blowby yung oil dapat nasa crankcase na dahil busted na yung piston rings. pag may lumabas na usok sa dip stick blowby na nga. pero ang tanong nasaan yung oil hehehehehehehe gulo noh.......... :D

Kung kumakain na ng langis ang engine mo, may kalog na ang mga piston mo, overhaul na yan bro, every morning (dont start the engine yet) check mo deep stick dapat nasa maximum level ang oil, then next morning again check mo uli, pag nababawasan, thats it, kumkain na sya ng langis. It will cost you 30thou or more than, pero good as brand new na uli engine mo. Ang labor nasa 4,500 ang parts ang siyang mahal.

umuusok ka na ba ng asul kahit malayo na tinakbo mo? Blue smoke means oil consumption sa engine.
Black smoke madumi ang carburator.

jim, minsan kasi blowby na makina pero hindi mo makikita yung usok sa tambucho kasi naka idle. Minsan nga revved na wala pa din usok. pero basta burning oil kadalasan gastado na piston rings or cylinder sleeve

loss compression na yang engine mo kaya mausok ang valve cover...damage primary and
secondary ring....dalhin mo sa garage ko diagnose ko kung ano ang sakit

muffer: sa mismo toyota casa ba ang estimate mong 30thou+, how about kung sa labas lang, last time nakatanong ako 8-9thou daw, reliable kaya yung estimate nung mekaniko, o baka low quality din work nila. regarding sa smoke, wala pa naman blue smoke, at di pa naman belcher ride ko. confused nako??hehe

pajerokid/jim: try ko din baba idling ko, baka sakali, at check ko dip stick kung may usok. kung pa change oil kaya to a thicker/higher viscosity rating?? and additives?? may effect kaya?

oo nga, iyong totoo as in totoo..daming mga "siraniko" nagpapanggap magagaling daw..pag natapos na't lahat nagkagastosgastos ala ring nangyari lalong tumindi ang sakit..abala..sama ng loob..etc.
