AFAIK, dual tips aren't a problem, as they are after the muffler and don't have much affect on exhaust flow or backpressure, I think the "dual exhausts" on both the S2000 and the Tiburon still come from one muffler... in fact, this is true on a lot of sports cars... the Corvette has four exhaust tips from two mufflers.
And yes, dual tips look cool... not useful, but just... cool!

Tiburon -> may V6 engine option rin naman siya. baka cost cutting (less configuration & logistics).
pati standard equipment naman ang mga yun.
kapag retrofit / aftermarket... mukhang
pero depends pa rin sa execution.

They convert the S2000s to single exhaust because it's faster. Likely the "double exhaust" on the S2000 is merely a double tip off a single muffler. Honda knows better than to put twin exhaust tracks on a four-banger.
Tama ka nga, mazdamazda... baka cost-cutting nga ang pag-double exhaust tip ng Tiburon... so they can use the same exhaust mountings for both dual and single systems.
