    1. this started happening recently to my car. pag naka-idle sya naglalaro ng konti yung tach. nasa 900 usually pero after a while bababa to around 600. its gonna go up again after i rev the engine. happens whether the A/C is on or off. what could be the cause? dirty carbs lang ba? feeling ko parang medyo humina na din ng konti yung hatak.

    2. ano usual duration before you change the timing belt? its been more than 4 years na kasi since napalitan yung sa kotse ko eh.

    3. follow up to 2... i talked to my mechanic and sabi nya we should also replace na din the following parts: camshaft oilseal, pully oilseal, tensioner, o-ring pump. is that all? meron pa ba kulang?

    usually they change the timing belt every 100K kilometers or even less if you consider the traffic when your engine is running but is not registering in your odometer. you probably need to change yours.

    if you change the timing belt, you replace the tensioner bearing.

    pwede mo din isabay yung camshaft oil seal since same side siya ng timing belt ng corolla. not sure about the pulley oil seal although same side din siya.

    when you remove the timing belt cover kasi accessible the itong mga ito. make sure to buy the original oil seals para sure the walang leak. mahirap kung ibabalik mo pa.

    so you don't really need to change all the stuff that was mentioned?

    i'm not buying the parts from their shop, so maybe he was just thinking na sabay na lahat palitan para isang bukasan na lang.

    baka nga ang iniisip ng mekaniko ay para isang bukasan na lang.

    kung wala naman leak dun sa camshaft oil seal at pulley oilseal (eto siguro yung sa crankshaft), eh wag mo na papalitan.

    ika nga, if it aint broke, dont fix it :D

    isa pa, kung sakaling ndi mo siya palitan tapos magleak in the near future, madali lang siya palitan. relatively, madali lang kalasin yang part na yan ng kotse kumpara sa transmission, engine blocks, etc.

    about sa carb try to choke the carb several times ng msuction ng engine ung mga nagaccumulate na dumi sa idle jet un ung gnagawa ng mekaniko pagtinatakpan nya ung opening ng carb while rev nya sa linkage (remove first air cleaner assy) rev first den choke by the time namamatay siya remove ur palm kagad. check air filter din baka sbra dumi na rin, kung d makuha malamang carb needs overhauling na.
    about sa timing belt 7yrs or 80Tkms which ever comes 1st, syempre its better na sbay mo na mga oilseal n tensioner para after 7 yrs or 80tkms kna uli magbukas nyan same lang naman ang bayad sa mekaniko (1.2-1.5T ang labor)

    turns out one of my splitfire high tension wire is defective causing some irregularities sa idling and hatak. mahina na yung power na dumadaan sa kanya.

    had it replaced kanina pero meron pa din irregularity.
    im having the distributor and carb checked next week.

    yung timing belt ko nung 2001 pa pala napalitan so im getting it done na din next week.
