artpogi::: i think a 5mph bumper is a reinforced bumper that will not incur any (major) damage if hit with a max speed of 5mph.

Dito sa atin, mostly Koreans and Europeans ang fitted with this type of reinforced bumpers.

The part of the bumper we actually see is called the bumper cover or bumper skin. Tapos yung actual bumper ay nasa loob. Pwedeng made of foam, honeycomb plastic, steel or combination of materials.

Thats the sad truth with local cars...

i've seen a bump incident between an ES civic's rear bumper and a 1st gen tamaraw fx' front bumpers. i think the traffic was running at 30-40 kmh when the civic suddenly braked hard then kapoow! their bumpers kissed.

the civic, a dent and a small scratch. bumpers still in place.

fx - bent bumpers, bent grille, and i think i saw smoke coming out of his hood.

Someone should tell the law makers to make this 2.5mph or 5mph bumpers standard on our streets.

Just spend another big one for repairs.

1-23-04: A/C switch light got busted have to change the whole switch coz they don't sell the bulbs for replacement:
    Damage: 1,500.00
    Labor: Free

1-25-04: Check engine light came out had to have it checked by GM shop using TECH-II and result is a busted Oxygen sensor.
Damage: 8,500.00 (from Thunder) the price at GM was 10,000.00
    Labor: 1,500.00

Total damage for the past 5 days is 11,000.00

    Don't buy a VECTRA 1998 to 2003 model!!!!!

Sad to hear that you're spending a lot for the repairs.
dyan sa Pinas since it's built to adapt to European
    conditions.

You'll see a lot of people driving Corsas,
Astras, Merivas, Vectras and a few Signums.

You'll be surprised though that their Best Car for
    2003 is the Toyota Avensis.

I have no choice and stuck with this car untill April or even May.

Basta I'll post if ther's any new parts that will be change.

Hi guys, I am new here...just want to share my experience with Opel Vectra...

I used to own a 1998 Opel Vecta Wagon...sobrang sirain!!! For the year 2003 alone, I spent around P60K for repairs!..within 3 years, I think I spent around P120K...

All in all, I replaced the Selector Switch, Selector Cable, Oxygen sensor, Timing belt, tensioner, valve gasket, etc etc. Needed to top-overhaul!...

Been sourcing my parts from Thunder (c/o Coleman Wong) pero masakit pa din sa bulsa!. Finally, was able to sell it last dec. at P270K! Would you believe, within the months of Dec and Jan., dami na din pinalitan yun nakabili sa akin... Dont get me wrong pero I provided the buyer with the complete history of the car, complete with receipts (para walang sisihan).

As you can see, DI ka nag-iisa... yun lang po.

ako have to wait until May pa yata

Wala pa stock si coleman pinaorder ko na and have to take 2 weeks bago darating dito.

Everyday more than 200km ang travel distance parang taxi na siguro.

I been spending 3 hours of my daily life inside the Vectra for he Pass 3 years.

Everyday din the speed reaches 160kph or sometims 180 depending on traffic and visibility and still very stable.

Kaya ko pinagtityagaan ayusin kasi for my own safety.

Eto pa pala would you belive I've change my whole suspension twice as in from shocks to bushings and stabilizer links.

Had my whole radiator change that is after I had a new auxiliary fan replace and still over heats last December even yun coolant canister nag ka leak din pati yun octupus hose.

One good thing I should say about this Vectra is the MID or Multi Info Display is SUPER USEFUL.

It had save the car from total engine wreck countless times.

Sometimes I wish all cars will be build with an MID to remind drivers if:
Coolant level is low (usually leaks) before it overheats
BrakeFluid level is low (usually leaks) before you loose your brakes and figure in an accident.
    Headlight or Brakelight busted
Oil level is low (usually leaks) before you destroy the whole engine.
    Automatic transmission Error among others.

I swear if it were not for this MID the car would be long gone compare to it's japanese counter parts.

Imagine having a leak without you knowing it and ending stranded in the middle of nowhere with a busted overheated engine. with the MID this doesn't happens but of course if the MID gives you any warnings this means be prepare to pay for the parts.

rebel: i have a 2000 astra wagon. so far its been a great solid car. all i've had to change so far was the rear hatch mechanism [gm makati] and the battery [motolite had a match].

ive been thinking lang of doing maintenance on the suspension. tsaka parang ok kung makahanap ng good mechanic outside kasa.
