From the top of my mind:
Advantage:
very capable off-roader
matibay
classic design
Disadvantage:
hard to find one in good condition
interior can get worn out easily (especially kung ginawang driver-back-up car)
rust on 1995 and lower models
Things to look at when buying:
- 4x4 gear (if functional and no strange noises)
- interior
- engine emissions (the Safari is not a smoke belcher)
- power when going up inclines

Later models including the '99s have:
Cup holders in the center console
Automatic climate control system
Dual aircon as standard
Third brake lamp
Different injection pump (inline type?)
Executive series:
ES badges
Cabin air purifier
Availability of black body color (not previously available)
Leatherette seat covers
Faux wood trim

It makes a 110bhp? Somewhere in that area. So better get used to watching small Honda's whiz by as if you're just sitting still. hehehe.
As a back up vehicle, it will not keep up if your principal is riding in a V8 full size sport ute (e.g. Suburban, Expedition, Hummer, etc.).
But if you don't expect much speed out of it, it's quite pleasing to drive.

February 9th, 2010 02:09 PM #6Thanks OTEP. I might sleep while driving on the way and wake up somewhere along the road shoulder. Hehehehe......I might as well consider another vehicle. BTW, my present unit is KIA carnival 2000 model and it runs like hell. No way for Nissan Patrol to catch up if it's only 110bhp more or less.
Thanks again for the info. God bless your heart.....
