i read on the dmax thread that a navara was stuck in the track that was used by isuzu vehicles. this happend on the dmax bondock LE 4x4 launching daw in bacolod. they said that navara drivers didn't tend to go to the deep parts of the track cause of the fear that it will stuck. you have to apply higer rev to achieve the giant torque, which makes it not suitable for off roading. is this true? can anyone confirm it?

    Bro JJ,

Depende din siguro sa driver, pero what can I say expect comments from the Nissan Fanbois here.

Hell, even a Range Rover can get stuck if you beach it properly.

The point is, it can happen to anyone, any truck, any SUV. While it may be easier to get stuck using certain SUVs (BMW X3 anyone?), if you're not careful it can happen to you regardless of what your rig is.

A huge portion of actual off-roading is investigating the terrain you want to tread, so as NOT to get stuck.

    That's the thing.

Was this an official Isuzu event? Was the Navarra the only "competitor" vehicle there, or were there others?

If it was purely D-Max versus Navarra, then Isuzu chose to use the Navarra as a bit of marketing strategy. "Hey look! Our pick-up is a better off-roader than the best new pick-up on the market!"

Which is a big "duh"... From the sound of it, the special edition D-Max is on knobbier tires and has better ground clearance. The Navarra, as most off-roaders already know, is on much more road-biased tires than the competition and has the lowest ground clearance of the lot.

It's possible to construct a course to show this, but so? Not many pick-ups on the market drive as nicely as the Navarra on road (possibly the Strada and the Ranger, though the Ranger is on the stiff side) or are quite as entertaining.

Now if it were a Navarra 4x4 off-road edition, that would be something.

Puro marketing lang yun. If they wanted to show the D-Max's off-road superiority, dapat Strada 4x4, Ranger 4x4 at Hilux 4x4 ang kalaban.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

sirs was there at the event, not all d-maxs' were the Bondock edition. the one I tested was the normal 4wd which has the bridgestone h/t tires. the navara owner was there to witness the event and tried parts of the track lang. yes even the most capable offroader gets stuck.

the only thing that will settle this issue is that there is a showdown of all the pick-ups available on the market today. which should happen soon daw.

in the same event the dmax also got stuck, this we can say that it depended on the driver na kay same vehicle ang ginagamit.

Yup... let's wait for a proper test. But it is true, the tires and the driver can have a big factor to this. I've seen Tamaraw FXs wearing a/t tires go through tough spots in the province where some 4x4s got stuck.

Nissan Navara not a capable offroader?
