All about Nissan Serena [merged]

our serena is the daily schoolbus for my younger brothers. the problems i've had with the serena are the following:

1. door lock actuators
kapag nasira na yung original, pinapalitan ko with a generic china actuator. madali masira yung actuator na china made, so after around 3 replacements, yung mamahalin na ang ipinalagay ko, and now it's all good.

2. noisy fanbelt
tightening + belt dressing ang solution

3. alternator (once)
the alternator suddenly stopped charging the battery. the battery warning light came up. i drove it to bring it to the shop, and if i drove the car long at that state, the engine would die soon when the battery runs out of charge. the rotor of the alternator was changed, and it's all good.

4. radiatior
i dont think it's a problem common on serenas, because the driver fills the coolant tank with tap water and no coolant, so after a few years, rust started to develop, and soon there was a leak.


aside from those problems, i think the serena is fine. it can be quite thirsty though if you have a heavy foot.

the serena's ride is comfortable. my young brother usually falls asleep at the back on the way home from school. two senior citizens rode it at different times, and both did not fail to comment on how comfortable and cold it was inside, not to mention that they fell asleep on a long drive.

*mda: yeah i actually heard that story too.. bakit kaya nasunog? electrical problem? car ko dati naka sr20 din pero wala naman ako problema.. nagtataka nga lang ako bakit nagkaganun yung serena..

*marv: thanks for the info bro.. im actually looking at a silver 1.. 04 model.. gas consumption for me is not an issue more on the reliability of the car kc pang senior citizen ang gagamit.. for 300k u cant go wrong i guess.. masyadong confortable yung auto kasya sa iba for that price...so kailangan good condition lagi alternator.. kc yun for sure ititirik ka.. thanks again bro..

i forgot to mention that one of the engine supports needed to be changed. it caused vibration sa body, but that's all.

the alternator can be damaged by doing an engine wash and splashing it with
water. make sure the alternator is covered and protected when having an engine wash.

Here are the problems i encountered with my 7 year old SERENA:

1. Alternator - replaced it with a surplus after first year and sixth year.
2. Radiator - leaked after 6 years
3. Engine support - replaced after 5 years
4. shocks - replaced after 6 years
5. main drive pulley - replaced with surplus after 6 years
6. stereo - replaced after 6 years
7. lock actuators - conked out after 5 years sa front, sa sliding door after 6 years
8. belts - replaced after 6 years
9. brake calipers - replaced after 7 years
10. valve cover gaskets - replaced after 7 years

mileage is 65k palang btw, and gas consumption is 4.5~5km per liter.

medyo magastos ang maintenance since parts need to be original due to limited surplus and replacement parts. excellent ride and comfort, pero sakit sa ulo ang maintenance...

Does anyone of you had experienced with defective revolution sensor for a/t serena? 2003 model to be specific. Im urgently looking for one, called our nissan dealer and wala daw. Does anyone of you know any auto supply na may ganito?

Good day mga kapatid,

Im a proud owner of Serena 2004 A/T, (Local) 2nd hand ko siya nakuha....

Para sa mga bibili pa lang ng Serena, ok siya no doubt (family van - comporatble, safety ok na ok)

Sympre yung mga nadidinig nating negative like nasisira normal naman siya - dahil sympre sa pag gamit but nasa atin din naman if aalagaan natin si Serena - sympre always maintain check up - tune up.

Nung nakuha ko ang Serena ko.

mga problems na encounter ko ay.

1. Bigla siyang ang stop at ayaw mag start - Ang sagot ay sympre Serena (runs with Computer so kailangan maganda ang battery mo and wrokign proferly ang alternator - pinalitan ko ng 2SL ang battery ko and never ng nangyari ulit ang problem.

2. Overheat - sympre ang dahilan ay walang tubig ang radiator (ha ha ha .... ) simple as this but nangyari sa akin ito naka limutan kung check ang radiator before umalis ng bahay. .... sobrang worried ako that time kasi biglang uminit ang aircon then humina ang hatak and bigla siyang nag stop ... buti na lang after a few minutes na naka stop siya at nalagyan ko na ng tubig ang radiator ok na ulit siya... pinaayos ko na dina ng radiator and alwasy check ko ang radiator and yung coolant hindi pure ang nilalagay ko like 50-50 water and coolant.
Pinalagyan ko ng aux fan ang radiator isa sa harap at isa pa sa likod...
para always malamig ang aircon at hindi siya namamatay pag naka stop ka lang.... nag automatic kasi yun umiinit pag nakahinto ka so to fix the problem pinagyan ng aux fan ... ok na siya.

3. Alternator - nasira siya kasi nasunog siya dahil sa pag engine wash ... so ayun pinagawa ko siya bu tnever siyang na replace pina repair ko lang sa may Paco meron magaling gumawa ng alternator.

4. Mahina yung original head light niya so pianpalitan ko ng 90/120 na halogen bulbs ... sympre pinaglagyan ko na din ng relay and pinapalitan ko ng wiring - maganda na siya ... and since pinapalitan ko na ng wiring ready siya if i want to use HID.

5 Na baluktok yung stabilizer bar - Im thankful kasi hindi bumigay yung bar ... eh tumatakbo pa naman kami ng almost 140km/h sa SLEX last week then nung pabalik na kami bigla na lang nag wiggle yung manebela so kala namin flat ang gulog, hindi naman so dahan dahan na lang kami pabalik ... kinabukasan pina check ko ang gulong kala ko wheel balance lang - nung na check kumalas na yung tie rod and wasak na ang ball joint and baluktot na yung stabilizer bar... ayun na repair yung stabilizer bar and pinalitan ko yung tie rod and ball joint ... ngayon ok na ok na siya. walang wiggle at kahit bitawan ko ang manebela hindi siya kumakabig ....

All in all napakagandang gamitin ng Serena ...

fuel consumption ko ay 8km/liter ako city driving and almost 9-10km/liter pag long drive .... wala pa itong fuel saver .... always yearly lang akong nag pa tune up ...


Ask ko lang wala bang association or group ng mga owners ng Proud Ower of Serena?

may alam ba kayo kung paano ma modified ang Serena? gusto ko kasing itaas yung rear paano siya ma adjust papalitan ba yung shock? or yugn spring nya? paano? may alam ba kayo na gumagawa? and mga magkano ang magagastos?


Kasi if may mabigat na karga sa likod naka tinggala na ang Serena .... kaya gusto ko sana itaas ang likod.

palagay ko eh kahit na anong sasakyan kung lalagyan ng mabiagt na load sa pinaka likuran eh medyo bababa ang likod. sumasagad ba ang shocks kapag dumaan ka sa humps?

anyone, may alam ba kayo na tindahan ng REPSOL ELITE 5W50 na langis dito sa P'que sa pasig lang kasi ako huling nakabili ng langis na ito eh, and maganda ang takbo ng Serena ko dito super tahimik ng engine at walang vibration di gaya ng CAstrol magnatec meron pang konti... thanks
