I just want to ask for an advise regarding Nissan Cefiro '97.

I saw an ad here at tsikot.com about the Cefiro and after having it seen and had it test drive, I was so impressed by the smooth driving on top of its classy and elegant style, hence, I made a downpayment to secure the purchase.

**** mind sharing which one you bought?

Since i'm going to pay the balance this end of month. I would want to ask if I really made a right decision.

**** If you ask me, oo especially if you are comfort oriented and I am not saying this because I have one too.

All my friends were telling me that to own such is "sakit ng ulo" because of the expensive gas. They told me that the average city driving consumption is only 5km/liter where 95 octane (CALTEX gold) must be used to preserve the engine from corroding.

**** "sakit sa ulo" if the unit you purchased was poorly maintained; just like with any other brand/make. Yes, its true 95 octane ang kailangan niya. But personally, I prefer XCS....

Secondly, mahal daw ang pyesa and tune up that would cost me P 50,000.

**** uhm....if you ask me, it's just the same. You just have to know where to purchase them. I learned it the hard way. Regarding the tune up, sobrang exaggerated. Siguro 8k at most if you use OEM parts and Fully Synthetic oil... Breakdown pero but this is based on sa huling pagbili ko - sparkplug 3.6k (600/pc), Oil Filter (OEM)- 400, Mobil Fully Synthetic 2.5k. Now you might ask as to why those spark cost that much; dahil sa pagka-platinum nito. Yan ang original niya. Good thing with it is that you don't have to change it until 100,000kms but ako sa 50,000kms, nagpapalit na ako... or earlier kapag mas maluwag... around 20,000 or 30,000kms.

Third, Wala daw pyesa sa mga ordinaryong talyer. Unlike Honda and Toyota which is readily available. My concern is that I'll be using this for provincial trip (QUEZON to MANILA) for my pamangkin's monthly check up at UST hospital

**** Depende kung saang area ka...but you don't really have to buy it from the CASA....

Fourth, can i convert the gas to LPG?????

**** Yes but if you ask me, it is not advisable.....

    Pls give me feedback guys.

    Thanks

Not really corroding but more from running rough. The engine runs well on high octane gasoline. V-power from shell is also an option.

As for the higher fuel consumption, it is true if you are in city driving. For highway driving, it gives good fuel economy if you have a light foot on the accelerator pedal.

Depends on the specific model you got. If it's the V6 cylinder engine, then it's really a big headache to simply change sparkplugs on that engine. It would require removing the intake manifold to access the sparkplugs for regular replacement. Some people prefer to install platinum or irridium sparkplugs to lengthen the servicing intervals.

As for parts, depends but generally luxury sedan parts are a bit more expensive but not prohibitively expensive.

You can find parts from authorized Nissan parts dealers like the one in Banawe or other areas. You can also find "replacement" parts for those non-critical stuff to lower the cost of repairs when needed.

Generally, a good condition unit should be fine. Of course you will have to deal with the car's relative age and the wear & tear due to it.

Fourth, can i convert the gas to LPG?????
Yes you can. SGI kits are recommended but venturi kits have been also used to convert such cars to LPG.

As mentioned earlier, V6 models can be a headache including LPG conversions using SGI kits. This means it will be more expensive to convert a V6 cefiro than a 4 cylinder model even if they use the exact same parts, simply because of the increased amount of labor to install the parts.

As I remember, EROOM's demo car for their venturi-closed loop LPG kit is a cefiro with a v6 engine. GREENFUEL also has converted V6 cefiro to LPG but they do charge a bit more for extra labor.

BTW, if you are serious about LPG conversion, you have to check on the locations of LPG refueling stations in your area of QUEZON.

    gh,

the vq20 is just as easy to tune up like any other cars. the engine timing can only be adjusted at a nissan dealer via consult and the spark plugs at the rear bank can be replaced easily be removing the ignition coils.

    hammerofgod,

watch out for oil leaks. when i got my cefiro, i thought it was just a minor leak but it was a major one pala. engine has to be pulled down to replace all the oil seals.

    ed10908,

alternatively, you can use petron's e10. its compatible with the cefiro. 95+ octane, no tope, i get around 6-7km/liter city driving. also the recommended oil is 5w30 for improved fuel economy.

2 keys with chip. look for oil leaks and kalampag.walang namang special sa mechanical system ng cefiro.kung automatic hanap mo sa tingin ko alam mo na ang ichecheck mo.di ka naman kasi hahanap ng automatic kung di ka pa nakagamit. total kms driven of 100k-150k is not a problem as long as well maintained yung makina.

buyers' market ngayon ang cefiro. you can get one for less than 200k. you said palit timing chain? the car might not be getting regular PMS.

check din pala for idling problems. even the idle up should be working. ignition coils, MAF should be working as well. idle must be smooth. test drive the car. it shouldn't be sluggish. if it is the knock sensor might be busted. another added expense.

anyway, cefiro owners, what do you think about the 18" 350Z rims on a cefiro? bagay kaya?

    Hi guys,

My car is nissan cefiro elite 2000 model.

Since I had my both front wheel bearings, cv rubber boots, and brake pads replaced, I have this griding, squeaking and knocking (or I should say bone-breaking) noise when braking at slow speed.

I took the car back to the shop several times. They regreased the connecting area of brake pads to the caliper, replaced stabilizer links and some bushing on lower control arms but no luck. This shop couldn't find the solution to this.

I think that they messed up something while replacing the said parts.

It drives me crazy. Any one knows this problem? I'm thinking of replacing the lower control arms. Will this help?

Any one also knows reliable auto shop in ortigas area?

(Casa may be the best solution but they asked way too much on this problem. Nissan casa said they have to replace stablizer and lower control arms all together to see if it help. and this will cost me more than 30k which I can't afford)

^Top Gear made a thorough review of the A32 Cefiro from 97-98 Model sometime in 2004 or 05.

Anyway...buying a good condition Cefiro is hard to come by these days as the engine is prone to warping due to overheat. Its better if the seller agrees to bring it to a shop first, have it lifted, checked for leaks, check signs of previous overheating.

Hello Cefiro users! I was checking out a 97 Cefiro AT V6 24v model and the owner told me upfront when we were about to test drive it that the car wont move on "D" initially but need to shift to "D1" for about 10mins before it can be shifted to "D" ! What's wrong with this unit? Also the tachometer needle moves erratic - up, down, 2000 to 3000 rpm. Any solutions? TIA!

check the battery first. kung drained, charge muna or replace.

kung okay batt. check starter motor.

get a new shop to fix your car
