Hi. I'm a new nissan owner ('89). Just want to ask for your help in restoration of my car. First is the headlight. It's the stock headlight and it's really blurred now. I want to change it with a new and brighter one because i'm having a hard time during nights of driving. Can anyone suggest a cheap but has a better visibility bulbs during nights and rainy days (or do i have to change to the whole headlights?). And also, all the gauges in my dash are not working including the tacho., heat, fuel, everything. can i fix it myself or does it have to be done by a mechanic?..can you guys also suggest a surplus or autoshop in marikina where i can buy parts for my car?...most of the shops i've been to here in marikina doesn't sell parts for my car anymore..and i haven't seen any surplus shops here too..

Please help me restore my car. (this is my first car after giving up my motorbike a few months ago..

thank you to anyone who will help..

had that car before, diesel version 1.7 dx. mahina talaga headlights since the reflector after a few year parang lumalabo sya sa init ng bulb.
for me that car is not worth restoring sakit sa ulo suspension. alam ko yung 90 version nyan mas ok na. pero konti talga nagbebenta ng surplus parts nyan kahit sa banawe.

I have the same opinion. The B12 Sentra is not worth the money to restore. You would easily spend more than the value of the car in repairs and spare parts and not even get close to the "new" condition.

It would be easier to restore the B13 Sentra since you can still get parts brand new since its still in production in Mexico.

    What is the SLX?

Our '89 Sentra was a 1.6 SGX M/T. First locally sold japanese compact sedan to have power everything (window, locks, steering, side mirror) at that time.

The diesel version came out right after this body was phased out to make way for the new body in 1991 or 1992.

SLX is the 1.5L Sentra B12 chassis. Manual adjust side mirrors, no power door locks, not sure about if it had power steering.

    SLX is a 1.4L.
    LX is 1.3L
^both of this model dont have right side mirror. prefacelifted B12 dont have the SLX variant.

pre facelifted SGX is 1.5L top of the line at that time, the one with extended bumpers. and looks like a baby auster/maxima.
    facelifted SGX is a 1.6L

on facelifted B12. 1.3LX, 1.4SLX and 1.6SGX is like the B13's LEC, EX saloon and Super Saloon.

B12 and B13 are chassis codes.

if your car is similar to the car in the picture, it's the B12 Sentra. You can also check on the metal plate attached to the chassis' firewall.

Thank you mga sir for your inputs. i may not be able to restore it but the least i can do is make it more usable and reliable as my everday transpo to work. Pinalitan na ang makina nya ng E15 (i don't know what that is, ang sabi sa kin eh pang-matic daw yun)..so wala na raw akong poproblemahin sa makina. so kahit papano e hindi na ako mamomroblema sa makina kahit luma na ang sasakyan..

if there's any insights you can still give to me, i would gladly accept them..
sayang eh. saka first car ko to...so i might as well give it a try..

i left my car this morning to my mechanic. i bought a new batt for 2k. the old one will be use for my stereo.so i can listen to music even when the car's turned off to save gas and prevent batt discharge. my mechanic knows a batt dealer.he said that it's lot cheaper than those bought from stores which charges twice as much as this one. i think its Outlast batt.

i went to banawe last sunday to buy an antenna but most of the surplus shops weren't selling anymore of this kind so i just bought a new one, an internal antenna for tv/radio. i also canvased for headlights because mine not that clear anymore.my friends say it's not possible to clean the reflector inside. but, man, it's P1600 per head.i thought it's that price for a pair..he.he.i'm still looking for cheaper ones.and i'm also going to add fog light, if it's possible.

now, i;m saving up for the scrape-to-metal restoration.my friends uncle said it'll cost 28-30k.so, hopefully, by the first quarter next, i'll get to restore my car..

    hello bros,

i still hav my 88 sentra though i seldom use it 'coz i usually use my revo w/ my big family. lately, i'm having problem w/ d drum brake pad on one of the rear wheels. lagi cyang sumasayad, umiinit, & the pad detaches from the metal lining. may mekanikong nagsabi better purchase original brake pad. kaya lang umuubra naman ung sa kabila. may nagsasabi rin ung U-spring.
anyone from you who had the same experience who can help me fix my brake?

    thanks

good luck in restoring your car... I used to have a 1990 B12 (1.4) Nissan Sentra (SLX)..

*o0o_tomkat_o0o... Mukhang napapalaki ang gastos mo sa kotse mo ha.. try to think if getting a new model will be economical since madami ka naman papalita dyan.. like seats - paint... even wiper arm... My bro-in law before got an MB 190e cheap.. ayun every week may pinapagawa... he sold it din kaagad...

naku, dami na ulit prob. but inuunti-unti ko muna.masyado malaki gagastusin pag sabay sabay e. a friend told me that he knows a good latero and painter who can restore the body for 50k. is it cheap enough?

i also need to get a 2nd car before i can restore it.maybe a cheap compact car will do. *have any suggestions?).

i need a car kasi to go to work.malayo sa amin e.

so that's the plan for now.
