buhayin ko lang 'tong thread na to. i am torn between Tuffgear Car Cover and Super Shield Car Cover. I have used Tuffgear before sa unang oto ko at ok na ok kahit umulan at bumagyo, tuyong tuyo ang loob ng cover, walang moist so preferred ko to kaso yung dating binilhan ko wala ng stock though may mga sellers online pero not sure if original ba. My previous contact sa Tuffgear offered me a different brand (Super Shield) at same lang daw ng materials pati yung labas, rubberized kaso medyo alangan ako kasi di pa sya tested at wala akong makitang feedback online. Your inputs mga sir will be highly appreaciated. By the way, an online seller quoted me for 1,900 sa Tuffgear at 1,600 naman sa Super Shield. Thanks!

For car covers, it should be anti-UV, waterproof and most importantly, it should have a soft cotton backing. This is to prevent scratches when you put your cover on your car.

I recently bought this car cover from Lazada:

    https://www.lazada.com.ph/deflector-...ils.0.0.1HLwJH

It meets all my requirements. However, what I bought was a little bit smaller than my 2017 Civic. I should have bought the one for Accord as the new Civic is larger.

Anyway, here are my tips on how to properly use a car cover:

    1) Make sure before you put the car cover on, clean your car first with a clean damp microfiber cloth to remove any dirt, dust, tree sap, bird poo and what not. Even a tiny spec of contaminants can scratch your car when you put on your car cover.

    2) Do not ever let your car cover touch the road. This will definitely pick up tiny stones and debris which will scratch your car. Here's my technique on how to do this:

    a) When you open your new car cover, unfold it and turn it inside out, so that the white cotton backing is outside (reverse). When you fold it, roll it like a carpet from front to back. Once you have rolled it, fold it in half. Make sure you flatten it to let the air out.

    b) Place the car cover at the back of your car (trunk). Unroll carefully as you unroll the cover from the back to the front. Then unfold the sides. There you go! No touch road or ground. lol

    c) When it's time to remove the cover, do the same - front to back. Roll it like a carpet and fold it in half. Compress it to let the air out. Easy!

    3) When you clean your car with a microfiber cloth, do not ever recycle the water because you are going to introduce the dirt back to your car again which can cause scratches. Your microfiber should not touch any dirty water as this can cause nasty watermarks as well. My tap is connected to a water filtration system so that the water is always clean and free of dirt. When you clean your cloth, just wring it under the running water and not on a pail. It looks wasteful but its going to prevent scratches and recycled dirt back to your car. Just use the collected water and use it to water the plants. lol When you finished cleaning a single panel or two, wring the cloth under running water to prevent dirt from accumulating. You want to make sure your cloth is clean all the time. Do the same for the windows.

With this technique, you're going to clean your car much faster especially the windows because you won't see any dirty watermarks once the water has evaporated from the windows. It's a one pass affair. lol

    4) Do invest in a tire cover. I bought this one from ebay. This protects your precious rims from nasty dog pee. It also helps keep dirt and debris away from your car when you cover it. Tires are really a magnet for dirt and tiny stones.

    Have fun car covering. Lol!

a car cover can threaten the finish of the car. a tent will not, but it can be threatened by strong wind and heavy rain. but both offer minimal protection against lateral forces.
if you have space for a tent, you will likely have space for a garage. a concrete or re-inforced box with three walls and a roof, is good.

It depends on the car cover. If the car cover has no soft cotton lining/backing, only the bare nylon/polyester material, it will scratch the car and stick to any newly painted car under the hot sun. It's only meant for garage use only where there is no wind to move the cover around and no sun.

There are car covers meant for the outdoors having anti-UV, waterproof and heat protection features. It is however more expensive. A car parked outside your house exposed to the sun's damaging UV rays, heat, tree sap and bird poo can do a lot of damage to your car's paint in a relatively short period of time. You'll see oxidizing, fading and hardened watermarks in a few year's time. With a car cover designed for outdoor use, it will protect your car's paint for a very long time.

Of course, there are people who are ignorant of properly putting a car cover on. They just put it on a dirty car, lay the car cover on a dirty road and hope it will protect the finish. It is effectively a large sand paper with grit #30. Lol!

Definitely, that is if you have space outside of your house. If not, it can obstruct the road, especially this type of foldable tent very common in the Philippines. Saves you the hassle of putting a car cover on. But, it can be more expensive than a car cover.

It will not shade your car completely if the sun is at an angle during 1-3pm. But, it really depends on where you are facing the sun. Bolting it on the road is rather cumbersome if you plan to fold it after use or during storms. However, there are people who complained that the tent is of poor quality. Someone reported that after a few days, the whole structure collapsed on his car! Ouch!

This is my favorite, a foldable car garage. Width is about 2.5-2.8m. You can bolt it on the road permanently. It can withstand storms or just about anything. It fully covers and protects your car. But, I inquired with the supplier in China and it cost about $1200 for 1 pc only. Shipping charges not included. Most require a minimum of 50pcs to get the price of $900. Ang mahal!!

I've searched for a Philippine supplier, but, I don't think there's any in the market. I just hope someone would import this. I would seriously reserve 2 units.

There is also an inflatable car garage. But, it's really used for hail storm protection.

The cheapest quote I got was US$200. The highest quote I got was US$450. No shipping charges included. They can accept 1pc. But, the downside is, you have to use the air blower to keep it inflated 24/7! Facepalm! Lol!

There is also a sail canopy. You just need to find a post to tie it around. I searched it in Lazada, the price for a 5mx3m rectangular canopy is P6200.

During storms, you can simply untie it and fold it away.

But, if you are planning to use a trapal or tolda, the ones commonly seen in construction sites, don't. It will fade and turn to powder in a few months. Lol!
